As the "project" is getting closer to its "end" I got inspired to actually list all the weight measurements, done with my mechanical scale simply written down on paper (sometimes low tech can be used), the record lows in red.

April:
2-87.5kg
7-87.5
8-88
11-87.5
16-87
18-87
18-87.5
21-87
22-86.5
23-86.5
25-86.5
28-87
29-86

May:
1-85kg
3-85
4-85
5-86
7-85.5
8-85.5-starting the log
9-85.5
11-85
12-85.5
12-85
13-85
14-85
15-85.5
16-84.5
18-84
20-85
21-84
22-84
24-84
25-83.5
26-83.5
28-84
29-83

As expected, more or less jumpy. Variance, look long term

Looks I'm in for an additional project, to express this small setback mildly. The new scale arrived, and it showed 84.1kg, while the mechanical one showed 83kg. So I have around a kilo and a half to drop, not just a half for arriving at the elusive 82.5kg.

But after all reducing weight is a relative business, so will do this in two parts. I'll keep the old scale until reaching 82.5kg with it, the old faithful has served well. Then I move entirely to the new scale for the last kilogram. Small steps, small steps.

Reached the floor today with straight knees. Then you can guess in which shape I've been. Played around some with 7kg dumbbells, definitely wouldn't have done that three weeks ago. Think even the word progress can be used.

Really good stuff, man. Way to stick to it.

Just want to chime in with some of my recent experiences...

I'm 44, 6'5" and on April 28th weighed in at 245lbs. My weight has fluctuated 30-40 lbs for the past 6 or 7 years depending on how active I have been. Haven't been in a real gym in at least 5 years. Late 20s to mid 30s I lifted, jogged a little, and played basketball.

I'm a big starting strength fan but this time around I'm trying something different. I'm doing a mix of dumbbells (basic exercises 2-3x per week), light jogging (more like a quick walk), and body weight stuff (step ups, dips, push ups, and pull ups). Kind of concerned about injury so decided to rebuild my "base" a little before getting back into weights.

I also carry all my fat in my waist. No matter how fit I've been, I've always had a gut. I'm not as vain as I used to be so it really doesn't matter to me much now.

That being said, within the past 6 weeks I am making real progress with these basic exercises and my gut is definitely going faster than it ever has. I feel so much better sitting at the poker table. Way more comfortable and playing longer sessions like I could in my 30s.

To get to the point, I think the biggest thing that has helped me is that I'm now doing Keto and Intermittent Fasting. Keto is not for everyone. However, IF is probably the most effective thing I have done to get rid of my gut. Definitely worth doing a few days a week of you can pull it off.

I usually eat between 12p and 6p. 3 good Keto meals. I don't count calories at all. Just don't eat carbs except in greens, asparagus, brocoli, cauliflour, and Brussel sprouts. I usually do 15 min on dumbbells in the morning, do some hard work or chores around the house, and then do 20-30 min of light jog or bodyweight stuff right before I break my fast.

Weight is falling off (I'm doing my 5 week weigh in on Saturday-haven't checked at all) though the biggest thing I notice is my gut is leaving and I'm
building and keeping muscle. At 44 that is rare. It's crazy to me that this program is way more effective than all the time I spent lifting in the past.

I do plan on doing a SS program, or at least a modified version, in the next few months. However, I am beginning to be a believer in Keto and an absolute fanatic about IF.

I also have been playing in a fasted state and I feel sharper and more focused at the table. Anyway, awesome job! Just thought I'd throw this out there.

Nice, thanks for the feedback! Must recommend you to start a log. Your workout program looks good, variable, think that is the thing. So stick to it even if starting with SS.

I think, in addition to low calories content, you need to believe in what you eat. This time around for me it's VLCD smoothies. I'm 1.5kg from my goal of a lifetime, and intend to keep it there, may well experiment with something later on, why not Keto an IF? But think I generally just try to make eating as easy as possible, in the end. So more vegetables, and a little less calories.

Good luck with your endeavors!

This was my most intense day at the gym so far. Continuing one hour action, even some perspiration.

The weighing business got a setback, will wait for some probable real change before standing on the two scales. Would even like to use some swear word for what the new scale did

Intended to post this when reaching my goal. May as well post it now, because I'm not really sure what my goal is

This is getting more and more complicated, my head is spinning around - my new scale needs a warm up. When using it the first time three days ago it at first was 83.9, but when I checked it immediately after it was 84.1 and stayed there. Today it showed clearly 83.6, but when standing on it again it was 83.7, consistently. Just 0.1kg difference this time but anyhow.

So I estimated the old scale should show 82.5. But it was 83. But by leaning my upper body forward some, a bit more pressure to the toes, I easily got it to 82.5!

Tough world.

Feels like I almost have stopped eating, must be pushing it. Can be glad if getting even 1000 if this continues. May be binging VLCD smoothies later though, 100 and some calories each.

Just need that scale to turn 82.5.

did I read everythign correctly, have you really only been eating vegitables (or drinking them I guess) for the last couple months? That is crazy impressive

Not entirely so. But not very far from it. It fills up well. Not eating what I'm used to apparently isn't a very big deal.

have you looked into Huel. Might provide more nutritional benefit (dunno the macros of vegi shakes). I bought some and its actually pretty decent. (I like oatmeal tho, and its very oatmeally)

Thank for the tip. Haven't seen it in the market I use, but of course internet is your friend. The calories content is a bit high, but you could use half.

The VLCD smoothies I use are ready 100+ cal pouches, I mainly have about five different flavors. They are primarily intended to be used five times a day in the beginning of a losing weight project. So already five a day gives all possible nutrients and vitamins you need (high protein high fiber) and abut 600 cal. I have all the time since starting had about 6-10 each day, sometimes two mixed together, and then the vegetables with dressing, and a little bit of something else of different foods especially lately. So have got an abundance of everything (except calories) while losing weight!

Could make it a hobby to test these different powders!

83.9kg, the new scale, as it will be from now on. 1.4kg to go.

After the scale setback I just came to think why not measure the waistline, at least I'm using the same tape as before. And it was 98cm=38.5"!

Have no illusions fat has burned this fast, but soon one month of training maybe muscle is pushing the fat back, distributing it a bit broader…

Another video is motivated

Have thought a bit about when to declare the weight dropping part finished. Liked the idea of having to reach 82.5kg only once, but think I will have to reach 82.5kg or below three times, not necessarily consecutive, before lightening up the diet. That excludes pure flukes.

Then I'm in for what many say is the difficult part, strategies will have to be worked out.

Thought some more. I prefer never to go through this two months+ project of dropping weight. Therefore I need a badass no mercy strategy to do the corrections shorter, and this may be it: after reaching the 82.5kg three times, if I even once hit 83.5kg or above I immediately go back to this diet that has proven effective and keep on to it until hitting 82.5 or below three times. Theses corrections should take around max two weeks, and that's something entirely different than two months.

Just internalized I seem to eat less during weekdays than weekends. Being at work gives you less time and opportunity to eat. This may be old news to many of you?

Decided to standardize my weighing procedures for lessening variance. It will be in the morning, after bathroom, similar clothing. This wasn't important when talking about several kilos, but will be when the follow up starts.

83.2kg=183.7lbs. New scale record, 0.7kg to go.

Think I will look into why weight loss often happens in larger blocks. Suddenly this is 0.5kg lower than the second lowest measurement since getting the new scale May 29. Would say I have hydrated normally.

83.1kg=183.3lbs, that is 0.1kg down from yesterday, 0.6kg to go. Not so much it's lower, but it isn't higher, so looks to have been a real drop.

So have been to the gym for one hour every day except one for one month, that's about 97% of the days. It's really starting to become part of me. High five!

Will try to describe a bit better what I do there when the weight dropping project is on maintain.

82.9kg=182.8lbs. Now we are talking the right first two kg numbers! These record reports clearly drop in more often after getting the this century decimal scale.
