Over the last few weeks I've seen some dramatic weight gain following a surgery. If I don't lose some weight soon, I'm gonna end up going up a clothes size, and I can't really afford a whole new wardrobe right now.



The backstory is that a few years ago I hit 210 lbs, and decided I had to make changes to my diet. Over about 2 or 3 years I lost quite a bit of weight, mainly through calorie logging. At my lowest, I was 145 lb and 5'10, and decided I'd overdone it - I looked a bit gaunt. So I think my healthy weight is between 150 and 155. Over 2018 my weight steadily crept up to 160. I was keeping an eye on it, but wasn't too worried.

Then I had surgery in October. I had thought I'd lose weight, since I'd be feeling in pain and off food. That's not what happened. Through a combination of not being able to exercise, and lounging round the house too much eating ****, I managed to put on 14 lbs, and I'm now 174. So the goal for 2019 is to get back down to 155.

I'm hoping this thread will be kind of the anti-MLYLT thread, where I actually post food logs and lose weight

Here goes with the logging I've done so far. I do eat a lot of salad vegetables and the like - I don't include those in the log if they are gonna be less than 50 calories. The logging gets too painful otherwise.

Thanks Josie! It doesn't seem to matter where I start from, the first few days I always end up losing a few pounds, but then the real grind begins

It served a purpose

I was cooking for a guy I'm seeing. I needed wine for cooking, and then he brought some wine as well, and we ended up drinking both bottles. We had a good time !

Great to see you Jo Good job in stepping up and trying to put a stop to the regaining of weight etc. Keep at it even if you do slip up with some wine very so often. I definitely know that feeling!

I have my kids this weekend, which is why the junk food has started to creep in. I hate pizza - so many calories and it doesn't fill me up. I cooked chicken and green beans with oyster sauce for dinner.

I got dumped yesterday, which is why my dinner consisted of margaritas and chocolate. From a weight loss perspective, this is good news, as my appetite has pretty much dried up. That's about the only positive though.

I suggest tracking protein. If you aren't getting enough protein, you're going to lose muscle and wind up being skinny-fat. It looks to me like you aren't getting very much of it right now.

The app tracks it - I just haven't been posting it. Or paying much attention to it tbh. I'm kinda naturally muscly anyway so haven't really been worried about protein. Apparently it usually makes up between 15 and 25% of my calories. What should I be aiming for?
