1/30 Squat preceded the 2/2 DL...maybe you were still recovering from squat?

Lol at the 635 x2 btw...looked so easy for you. You crushed it. Just awesome man.

BP looked great too. I also thought you had a weird hitch in lock out on your right arm but the lift is clearly 3XWhite.

I didnt feel beat up by the squat I dont think. I think its more other things like trying a preworkout that gave me gas and setting my suit too high and finally getting the weight too far forward on the pull.

495x1 - this touched easier than 485 did last week. Pressing it went pretty well . I'm probably going to open with 490.

size 52 Rage X
545xf. My shirt locked up less than an inch from touching. The bar hovered for a while before I finally pulled it too low, which made it impossible to press. bleh. This took a lot out of me. I figured adding a little more weight might get it down to the chest better.

555x1 - PR off chest. Pressing this wasn't super hard. I have more in me for sure. I think my 2nd attempt will be 556.

635x1 - it went up fairly fast, but I could have gotten about an inch more back and it would have been a little better.
665xf - upper back rounded. I got it mid shin and could tell it wasnt going to get locked, so I dropped it.

495x1 - It was a little hard to touch. I have been eating like it is my job lately, so I got my body weight back up to 241. This makes my shirts fit tighter. That is good and bad. 495 went up so fast it was ridiculous. I will probably open with 502 if my body weight is up around 240.

565xf. The shirt locked up with the bar less than an inch away from touching. This took a lot out of me.
585xf. This was fairly hard to touch, but it did touch in a decent place. I just pushed the weight straight up instead of in an arc towards my shoulders, so it stopped halfway up and came right back down. My arms hurt after this, so I shut down all the hard work for the day.

In some ways this was frustrating, but I figured some stuff out. If I am ~240 on meet day, I will make my first two attempts in my bigger shirt. My meet PR is 518, so getting more than that should be very easy if I keep my body weight up. I'll play around with some stuff between 523 - 551 in my size 54 the next couple weeks to see what everything feels like.

I still think your volume in the shirt is too low, but you know that, and both approached can work.

But after your meet I would suggest doing some 5x3 to airboard or to chest with 80-90 % of max, just test it for about a month and discard it if it does not work for you.

What you might not be aware of is that I am almost 53 years old and I am still not 100% recovered from two procedures I had done in September (neck and left knee). I still have a bulging disc in my neck, every disc in my neck is degenerative and I have a damaged (stretched out) ligament in my neck from a whiplash I had probably when I was 17. If you watch some of my DL videos that are fairly difficult, you will usually see my head cocked to one side. This is probably because of the messed up neck ligament.

My body is only capable of doing so much before breaking down. I have already had to scale back using my full setup only to my heaviest warmups and work sets in order to reduce stress on my neck, hips and low back. I pay close attention when I feel something isnt right, like last Sunday, and I have to shut workouts down entirely or scale back a lot. Significant volume is something I think might never happen for me again. Maybe it will someday, but I am not ready for it yet. If/when I can increase bench volume, I will. I'd love to increase squat volume too.

Edit: usually when we do air board work, it is raw. Trying some of it in a shirt might be something good - it might even break my tight shirt in a little more.

But something like 2x3 in the shirt will benefit you a lot without volume going crazy.

yeah, it could. Maybe if I am up to it on Sunday, I'll do some air board work with about 455 in the tight shirt.

I tried flattening my low back a little more than I have been and I had my belt placed a little higher. It made finding my groove on the descent a little different, but when it came time to come up, everything felt way better and easier.

I dont know if I would have been able to press this if I had taken it all the way to my chest or not.

My arms felt spent. My wrists hurt, especially the left one. I did some IASTM on my left bicep, and both the left and right pronator teres. That loosened everything up quite a bit, but I still felt pretty wiped out.

I think I my meet attempts will be 628/672/705. I think I have a great chance to break 1900 at this next meet with something like 705/551/650. My meet PR is 1890.

I'm hoping to be able to train harder after this meet and hit 804 or something close to that at APF nationals in June. I think I was close to getting that before I had the knee problems. I am hoping for a 2000 lb total in June if all goes well.

685x1 - Woot!! I hit my training goal of 683!! This is a gym PR. I was not expecting to get this tonight. My form was locked in on every pull leading up to this one. Hopefully this carries over to the meet. I'm now optimistic about my DL for the first time in a very long time.
