put on Katana
405x1 off two boards
445x1 off chest - fast and solid.
The plan was to find a weight I can touch in my two ply shirt.
put on Rage X
555xf - the bar stopped ~3" above my chest
585xf - the bar stopped ~1" above my chest, then I started to dump the bar forward.
The spotters grabbed it at that point.
Then the left side of my low back spasm-ed.
That lasted about 10 minutes before getting better. I rolled the **** out of my glutes after that and it helped. Then I put Biofreeze all over it and spent 10 minutes on the inversion table when I got home. It felt fine after that. I can feel a little stiffness in it now, but I think it will be fine.
Priest said I'm doing it wrong on the descent. I need to keep my elbows out until the bar wont go any lower, then start bringing my elbows in. I start bringing my elbows in too soon, which loads up the shirt weird, so once I get my elbows in so far, they cant go in any more and the bar still isnt to my chest. Its going to take a lot of practice and breaking in the shirt a lot more before I can use it for anything besides board pressing.
I'll be using my single ply Katana for the May meet. I'm actually kind of relieved because I have a lot of confidence in using that shirt and none in using the Rage X.
The plan is to open the 5/16 meet at 452, then ~485 (which I should get without too much trouble), then go to somewhere between 502 - 518, depending how 485 goes. Priest says he thinks I can bench 518 in my single ply shirt if I get everything right. The UPA equipped bench record for my age/weight is only 402, so I am sure I will crush that with my opener.
