I have an ability to hold my breath for a long time. I had some friends when I was young who used to call me aqualung, lol. I do need to stop pushing that to its limits with big weights though.

Late to the party, but congrats on the lifts!

You're gonna crush squats when you adjust to your new breathing setup.

Squats seemed to look different. Is your grip and stance wider than previous meets?

thanks! yeah, I need to hone in on my form, but I am encouraged with my squats with the way this meet went. The head guy of my powerlifting club, who squatted 1010 (multiply) @ ~210 bw, told me the other day he thinks I can add ~60 lbs to my squat by improving my form alone. He thinks that one training cycle using his programming and locking down my form might do it.

Good observations. Grip is all the way out. Stance is probably close to the same as before, but I unrack the bar with a wider stance and step straight back, rather than unracking with a narrow stance, then stepping out wider. I practice both of these at the gym now. I cant at home because my rack and bar limit me.

Did the nerve in your neck act up? Or were you done before it had the opportunity?

It was fine, which tells me I can squat 500+ without ****ing up my neck.

515x1
530x2x2

I'm doing Priest's 2x2 program now. The first week of a cycle, you lift 2x2x85% of your meet goal weight. He suggested I use 625 as my goal. Each week you add 2.5% until you fail.

block pulls (~6")
515x3
545x3
575x3
605x3
635xf - spent

Priest said this is like Westside does for block pulls. Keep adding weight til you fail. Typically though, you get to a point where you can do 2 reps and then 1 rep. I ran out of gas at 605x3. That's probably the heaviest triple I ever pulled from blocks.

I added one extra pulling exercise this time because my lats kept getting loose during benching.

Why ssb instead of straight bar? Injury/pain concern from straight bar?

Because I couldnt make it to the gym, and I cant do a super wide grip in my gym. I need either a monolift or a competition rack for that, plus my normal grip now is too wide for anything but a squat bar, which I dont have. Heavy squatting with a straight bar and a narrow grip is risky for me, so I'm probably not going to do it anymore.

bench with bands
185 + one pair red bands x 3 - ez
Priest said add bands rather than weight. I added a band that was way too strong. Good thing he was there to DL my second rep. He said it was probably over 400 at the top.
4 more sets of 3 with less band and weight

pulldowns and face pulls
