I like this position a lot, the bow and arrow from s mount is probably my best gi sub. Personally I like to drop my shoulders below his top shoulder and use forward pressure to keep him from getting his back on the mat instead of bringing a knee forward (hopefully that makes sense)

I know what you mean, more of a sprawled out position right? Man you are right about the bow and arrow to, my girlfriend got her first ever sub with a bow and arrow from there haha, so many options from this position!

I really just wanted to show the arm in Ezekiel Ive been hitting a lot from there, dont see it that often and its very deceptive. I tried it on a purple last week and he knew I was going for the Ezekiel so I snapped back to arm triangle and got that instead.

Ill try and and shoot a clip of it this weekend. If you look at how I am when attempting to finish the Eziekel, its really a arm triangle dynamics wise, I just need to switch the grip, shoot my arm in deeper and go belly down to make the switch, which is what makes those 2 options so awesome from there. A really good blue in my class, the guy who comes in at the end, usually goes arm triangle, and then switches to Eziekel for the finish if they use the standard arm triangle defenses.

So I just started the beginning of the year and am hooked. Training under Peter Lawson (a Renzo black belt) who's very cool, and a great instructor. I've started going every day, and am curious how many gi's you guys have.

I wash mine after every use (1 hour classes), but have noticed that it really doesn't get very sweaty, since I wear a shirt underneath. Do you guys just wash that often, skip some, or do you have a handful of gi's to cycle through?

Every time to avoid staph and such.

I only have on gi (although I don't gi grapple much) and I wash it minimum every other time, although I give it a sniff test (not scientific or anything). I think washing immediately after training is more important than washing a non-sweaty gi every time, but both is probably optimal.

Stinky gis are unacceptable, definitely wash every time. Two gis should be fine unless you are training multiple times a day.

As Presh said, washing immediately after training is ideal. Exponential bacterial growth and stuff. In case that's not an option, wash at higher temperature (e.g. 60°C). You need to be careful about shrinkage when washing hot and/or machine drying though.

I cold-wash and hang dry my gi every time. I was also stressing washing your BODY immediately after training as being the most important thing, IMO.

I always got laundry service since I used to train before work, not sure if they have it at your gym but the renzo flagship and renzo williamsburg both do. I still have like 7 gis.

No laundry service, but they sell thick Gi's similar to my Fuji for $50 bucks, so I think I'll just get 1 more. It's annoying since I don't have Washer/Dryer units in my Apt, but 3 Gi's should be easily rotated.

It's funny, I never did sports in HS and College and always regretted it because I love activity and competition. BJJ fills that need perfectly, and it's nice how the culture, so far, has been so friendly and open to helping me learn. It may be specific to the gyms I've been to, but all the higher belts that work with me are like mini-instructors, and just positive all around. For somebody that's highly competitive, but also (overly) humble, it's great to see a sport that fits that mindset in contrast to the usual Jock **** I always hated in HS.
