Just read your marathon TR - great stuff there. Pretty awesome that your OP (Aug 2015) indicated that you had your sights on the Nov 2016 marathon and you legit followed through.

I just started running again (after about 6 months of laziness) and right now would give my left nut to able to do a sub 11min pace for even 5 miles...(I can barely do 3...). So yea, awesome log, keep it up man!

Thanks I plan on even better things this year. Keep it up yourself and maybe even get a log gong here...it definitely helps with compliance and you'll get lots of valuable advice from posters like Tron and Poker Ron.

Great stuff on the marathons OP, always brilliant to achieve a goal like that. I'm hoping to do a half this year, ran 1:41 as a 20 year old and really wanna get close to that many years later. Don't think I could handle a full marathon though.

Whats your sugar intake like BTW?

Thanks for reading...looks like I'm at about 120-140g of sugar a day. Probably too much I'm sure.

I was registered for a half marathon tomorrow but had to defer my entry until next year. My dad was hospitalized and I had to go back to Pensacola for a few days. I hope to get a couple runs in while I'm up here.

That sucks but the race, and others, will always be there. Hope everything works out ok.

Thanks, it wasn't looking good Friday but he's doing better. He's battling cancer and was hospitalized and they found a blood clot in his heart, his BP was low and HR spiking into the 160s. He's stable for now though so I'll be going home in a couple days.

Yes I think if you could reduce this a bit it would help in the weight loss goal. Sorry if I'm giving you unwanted advice.

ok, another try to get you back here!
i saw you're still regularly running, nice! and you're still on 2+2... so why no more logging?
it's normal to have some "bad" weeks , but no reason to sulk over it, just get back in here and continue logging. there's still a lot of weightloss in front of you, hehe

Just read the whole thread and I think it was an awesome read, OP.
Are you still running? Would really love to get updates on that.

It's been a long time since I've updated this log. 2017 hasn't been a great year so far but things are starting to look up! I was registered for a half marathon on January 15th but had to pull out because my Dad was in the hospital with a blood clot in his heart. He battled bladder cancer hard but passed away March 27th. He was only 65, way too young.

I made several trips back and forth to Pensacola between January and March and quit running completely. Then in early April my daughter told me she had joined her middle school track team and asked if I would help her get ready to run the mile. I hadn't run since January 27th and had gained a ton of weight. I felt absolutely awful that I wasn't in any kind of shape to run.

My first run back was an easy 2 miles on April 7th. It went surprisingly well and we did another run the next day. That got me back on the right track and I started to very slowly build the mileage. I'm now up to doing 4 mile easy runs and did a long run of 5.5 this past Monday.

I'm embarrassed to say I gained over 50 lbs in less than 6 months. Stress definitely causes me to eat loads of crap and just not give a flip. I got all the way up to 271 before I started logging again May 7th. Since then I've dropped about 12 lbs and coincidentally someone started a "Biggest Loser" contest at work at the end of May. The first 30 day weigh-in is June 24th and the final weigh-in is July 22nd. Top 2 losers based on percentage of body weight lost get paid for both weigh-ins. It's not huge $$ but it's very motivating!!

I'm not planning any races until a 5K in September. I'm not planning on running the Pensacola marathon in November, just don't think I'll be ready. I wanna do the half marathon that day with eyes on the Ocala Marathon in January. So I'll start the Pfitzinger 18/55 plan again in September and see how it goes!

Since starting back I ran 47 miles in April, 61 in May and I'm currently at 45 for June with a goal of 90+. I'll try and get back to updating this log frequently again and set more aggressive goals over the summer!!

Without reading through the thread, did you do the Pfitzinger plan in the past?

I am signed up for Houston in January and am looking for a training plan. Friends tried Hansons method but that one doesn't look fun to me. (Not sure if goal time is relevant but I want to get a 3:07 to qualify for Boston)

Welcome back to the thread!

Very sorry to hear your sad news. It's totally understandable that something like that can cause you to fall off the wagon in terms of your own health and fitness, but it's awesome that you're starting to get back on top of things now. It doesn't matter that you had a blip, it's more important that you've recognised that and are doing something about it. I hope to see you continue to update us with your progress.

Yes I followed the Pfitzinger 18/55 plan (18 weeks with a peak mileage of 55) last year pretty closely. I'm not sure any marathon plan can be described as fun but I was able to stick with it and not get burned out. You're at a much higher level than me...my goal was 4:15 but I had hydration issues during the race and finished in 4:57. Pfitzinger also has an 18/70 plan you might consider.

I have a friend interested in the Pfitzinger plans. Where did you get your plan from? Was it his Advanced Marathon book?

Yeah I found a copy of the training schedule online for free. Someone was also nice enough to send me an electronic copy of the book. I read most of it and I'm planning on reading it again before I get started back on the plan.
