June 2nd: Intensity

Squat: 390x5 (let out a jdock scream to get the fifth rep up)
Bench Press: 192.5x2x2
Deadlift: 345x5 (PR, straps)

Went fine, lost tightness on the second bench rep and couldn't get the third up, so did a second double, then bashed out some reps of 135. Tried to video everything but camera ran out of batteries while i was reviewing squats, so that's all there is. DLs were pretty good, definitely not limited at that weight by strength other than grip, so as long as I continue to strap should see some progress. Did some heavy shrugs to finish off.

Not my greatest set, but got it done

One more fan of the squats here.

Anterior pelvic tilt. It is a postural concern that can sometimes contribute to lower back pain. The top of your pelvis is rotated forward, causing an excessive back arch and a protruding stomach. It can be corrected, but slowly...

Yep, HS is right. You want something with a heel lift if you want it specifically for weightlifting. I got ridiculously expensive ones that are complete overkill for my skill level, but I feel like a baws in them. That and it keeps traffic coming to my log as Johnny Ryall comes into drool at them.

Though i do see a few people wearing that brand around the gym - particularly crossfitters. Depends on your goals i guess.

The link HS posted is a good source of info, and Wei Rui warriors are a reasonable price with good reviews for squat shoes. They should be back in stock soon. Or the adidas powerlift trainers are another good option

Ok, I don't want this to sound like sour grapes (now that you are stronger than me), but you could probably go down another couple inches to break parallel. I had the same problem previously. Pointing your toes out a bit more, and letting your knees go wider just a bit should do it. I have found it also lets me keep my torso a bit more upright.

Also, those red shoes are pretty badass.

I agree completely, most of the reps in the last vid were high. I didnt post my own comments just so people aren't getting influenced when looking at the video.

Still undecided what to do today, given I missed volume day this week. I could repeat 390x5, or just try and progress to 395. Given the depth issues, thoughts?

when i skipped my volume day, and tried to add 5lbs, I failed. When HS did that, he got it. so I think it varies. But I think if you wanna work on the depth, just repeat 390, IMO.

This is not intended to pick on anyone specifically, but it is on my mind now, so I will type it.

Have to admit I do not feel super great with people giving away proprietary information, especially books. It is super hard to write something worthwhile, and I believe people should be compensated properly for writing something worth reading. Also, from a purely selfish standpoint I worry if people lose the ability to profit from writing because everyone is giving it away, they will stop doing so, and we all suffer (especially me).

I think with all the useful information Justin has given away to the fitness community over the years, the least we could do is spend the $30 (or whatever it is) to buy his e-book if we really want to read it.

Or maybe I am just a life nit, I donno.

No, I don't think that is a life-nit stance.

jdock - is there a unique reason that you suffer if things aren't written - I mean, we all suffer quite a bit, especially the people actually pirating the book in the first place!

I am not sure I understand the question. I was just saying if artists (I am using this term very generically) stop making art because they cannot get payed for it and have to go out and get a real job, the whole world becomes a lot duller place to live in.

But I also admit I am a hypocritical. I make sure to buy books and music to support artists/authors I enjoy, but I also pirate PPV sporting events, including probably the fight tomorrow night.

RE: Squat I would go 395 and just widen your stance more. Starting with your warmups find a good stance that is wider and comfortable so that when you get to your workset you are in the right groove. Wider stance will give you more glute, ham activation and lower back= stronger.

Good article imo http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_...8A-mcd01.hydra
