Squat: 355x1, 375x1, 385x1, 395x1
Bench: 185x1, 207.5xf, 185x3, 135x10
Deadlifts: 185+monster minis, 3x3
Finished with some cable rows and ghetto GHRs

The plan was to just do some light squats, but 315 felt so light and I was feeling fantastic, so I just kept going. Crushed my previous PR of 365, and still felt I had some in the tank, but called it there as I have early football games tomorrow. Bench got stuck an inch off the chest, for what would have been a 2.5lb PR. Bandz are fun...

Diet wise, doing ok. Bagel with pork and a pear for lunch, cake and a shake at 4pm, more pork with bbq sauce, veges and potatoes after the gym, Workout started at 7:30pm.

Also received some protein powder from Amazon that had split in transit. Contacted them via chat and they are replacing it with overnight delivery, took five minutes. Kudos to them for making it super easy.

Strained my hamstring playing soccer today, which is frustrating. Otherwise keeping up with the diet, pork and eggs and veges the mainstay today. Hosting a home game this evening, so left some cals in the tank for beer

Plenty of water loss I'm guessing from the first week.

Today is a workout day, but not sure how much i'll be able to do. Hamstring is pretty stiff and sore, making press possibly difficult.

Yeah, I have found that as an adult in my early 30s it is pretty impossible to play sports and stick to a strict lifting schedule, because I pretty much always hurt myself whenever I try to play sports.

When I was a kid I used to watch sports and wonder, why are those guys getting injured so much, they only play 1-4 times a week (depending on the sport).

Now I watch sports and I am like, how can those guys get out of bed the next day after doing that (and the answer is normally copious amounts of painkillers).

I agree, pretty amazing what the professional athletes manage to do. They also probably have people helping them recover optimally, whereas I dosed myself with ibuprofen and ate cookies and drank beer until the wee hours Maybe i need to develop a healing scream...

I am hopeful I will get fit enough to string more than a few uninjured weeks together. Its extra frustrating because of PRs on friday, and the GHRs felt really good. Oh well.

April 9th - Volume day

Press: 122.5x5x5
Chins: 7,7,7
Cable Row: 180x8x3
Random tricep pushdowns/bicep curls

Press was pretty manageable, PR for 5x5.

Managed to hurt my neck somehow, stiffened horrifically after the gym and disrupted my sleep. I can't recall a specific thing that aggravated whilst working out, but its still sore and limited ROM this morning. FML. No radiating pain, so hopefully not serious.

Up at 9am, first meal at 12:30pm, shake with oats and fruit at 5pm, gym at 7pm, stirfried chicken and rice at 9:30pm.

Did you do anything new? Otherwise I vote for press, same thing's happened to me a few times.

NSAID protocol imo.

Once every few months after pressing I have a dull pain in the middle of my upper back that becames sharp when I turn my neck. But it is always better withing 2-3 days. Just the cost of doing business I guess.

Yep, been hitting the ibuprofens hard since last night. Feels better this afternoon, so will hopefully subside quickly.

I may have had something similar to jdock in the past, an odd feeling in the middle back after pressing. I have improved my form a bit since then (leaning back differently and engaging abs/glutes better) and no longer get it, and this pain is definitely different to that.

I also definitely don't SMR my shoulders enough, I need to get into preventative mode rather than firefighting mode if I can get on top of these current problems.

Yeah, ive dug the info up from Yugo's posts on the subject. I don't do them anywhere often enough, I need to prioritise better. Hitting that spot in my armpit almost gives me visions.

No TR, couldnt make the gym due to late work thing. But they are very nice to put on, I like the tongue being sticky with neoprene. Looking forward to doing some lifting in them once my hammy heals.

Still no trip to the gym, work got a bit out of control. Will be heading in tomorrow to do some press PR attempts and rehab/prehab stuff. Might do some upper body swollertrophy stuff if I feel up to it.

Diet is going pretty well, but yesterday is a bit of a black hole. A graduate student in the lab defended his thesis, so we had shawarma and salad for lunch (good so far...), and several beers and champagne. Then went out for delicious Indian food for dinner. I was pretty good about minimising carbs, except for alcohol, but have no idea how many calories. Good party though.

Back on the wagon today. Will hopefully write up a little two weeks on IF summary and take some noods over the weekend.

"Core energy" is definitely the orange side of red to me, but my wife said it was unequivocally red to her.

Cable Row: 3x8x165
Neutral Chins: 9, 7, 10 at BW
Leg Raises: 2x15

Press attempts kept getting stuck at forehead level. Would have been a 2.5lb PR, but oh well. Dropped down to do singles at 135lbs to get some work in.

Also did some light front squats to test the shoes. They are very very nice. Rock solid, and I'm looking forward to squatting heavy in them.
