I just saw that. Super annoying Norik is one of my favs. Not like I'm surprised though.
I think second sanction is lifetime ban. His 1st was for bud lolol. He recently had back surgery so who knows how much he would have had left in him anyway...
Working on keeping my arms straight still. I realized I have no problem doing it when starting from the top, basically only an issue when I break the floor.
I'm gonna try a more pl dl start on my cleans. Get super tight and gradually increase pressure to get all the slack out of my arms/the bar before pulling.
Re Norik: I read it's likely a retest of the 2012 London olympics sample since the news release lists Norik as lifting for Armenia (he lifts for the US since 2014)
Re arms straight: lol at me giving you advice but have you tried consciously rotating your elbows out? You can't pull with arms that way. I'm a bit confused by your idea of doing a "tight PL start" since I've always read and heard your arms are supposed to be loose
Ya it's from all the Olympics retests. But I don't expect him to be clean now anyway, nor do I want/hope for him to be lol.
Arms thing I def do, like I said I can do it properly from the top down. Somehow as I break the floor my elbows rotate and bend :/
Hmm by the pl start I mean squeezing the bar off the ground like cha and aidan always say. Arms would still be loose. Just getting my back tight, legs actively pulling against the bar, and ratcheting up the tension rather than using a dynamic start.
Yes keeping back tight+arms loose is honestly a pretty difficult skill to master, even though it "sounds" easy. Lifting with straps definitely does give you the feel of how it should be though.
Indeed. I'm much better at it in the snatch for whatever reason.
So br0s, I had university/u25 nationals set as my goal for next year. The qualifying totals this year were 223@77 and 230@85. I did 212@84 at my meet and just did 216@80 in training. A very achievable goal right, 10-15kg?
They raised the 2017 totals by facking 20+ kilos for both classes. Now its 245 and 254. I really don't think there's much hope for me to add 30-40 kg in the next 10 months
Weightlifting is increasing in popularity so if they don't want more and more people attending national meets every year they have to raise qualifying totals. The other thing is that 77 and 85 are the most popular categories so they get the biggest increases. Joke classes like 56 and 62 aren't really affected
All the gloom and doom with international weightlifting b/c of PED busts, yet olytard growing in USA #1. We have 2 forces to thank for instigating this trend back in 2005-2007ish: 1.) Jon Broz and his videos, 2.) Crossfit and their increasing focus on oly lifts.
I'm quite hopeful it will survive if it gets wrestlinged.
Also John north/cal strength. Plus whatever forces there are behind general lifting increasing in popularity.
Snatch 155x3x6
Cj 183x3
Cleans a lot x 155-183
Didn't get a single clean I was happy with. I also didn't have much time and gave myself a pissening lower back pump moving fast through snatches. That surely helped things along.
Now is the time I really wish I had a coach to tell me what the fack I'm doing wrong
I lift with 3 other guys, though not always at the same time. Not really a team though and definitely no coach. The other thing is 2 of the guys have been lifting only as long as me or less. The 1 guy who is more experienced is absolutely freakishly strong with a decent to good grasp on technique rather than being some perfectionist technician who can spot any mistake from a mile away.
Anyway I think I was starting with the bar too close to my shins so I'm gonna change that and see if it helps.
Squat 275x10, 255x10x2
Pp 175x10, 160x10x2 accidentally did 5 lbs too light
Bench 175x10, 155x10x2
Bulgarian ss 95x10, 85x10x2
Press 115x10, 105x10,8
Pretty easy. Weighed 181 today. I'm definitely toeing the line of bulking too hard...

Have you ever considered having your lift(s) analyzed by one of those online guys? Some of them seem to be really good at it and it could be a solution for figuring out how to get your lift to the next level.
Nah never thought about it. It would be a good thing to consider if I thought my technique was really holding me back from some goal i wanted to reach. Right now I don't feel like that is the case.
Plus I enjoy trying to figure out how to improve, even though it can be frustrating at times.

It says 8 years for second offence here in an article about another ban. 8 Years is pretty much life in WL though.
Quote:
Sincraian, who failed a doping test for testosterone, finished on the podium in Rio in the men's 85kg category. The 27-year-old previously served a two-year ban for testing positive for stanozolol, a banned steroid, in 2013.
While the IWF has not made a final decision on Sincraian's status, he could be facing an eight-year ban for his second offense. The International Olympic Committee will decide if Sincraian's bronze medal will be given to Kazakhstan's Denis Ulanov, who finished in fourth place.
Actually yes. True 10rm you shouldn't even be able to do -10% for another set. If it was a real 10rm you'd be lucky to pull 1-3 reps with 90% of whatever you just did. Most likely 0 on many days.
