Re: **8*8*8 March version Two(2) ***88***8

Tomorrow is my final weigh-in for my Biggest Loser competition and I can't wait for this thing to be over. I've been sticking to an RFL-type diet this week and I'm just lethargic and cranky and want to eat real food. I can't imagine doing this thing for more than a week. On the plus side, I've lost about 9 pounds since last Monday and have retaken the lead by a pretty comfortable margin. I'm wondering how much I can lose tonight just by doing some cardio and sitting in the sauna for a while.

TBH I think being lethargic and cranky while being on an RFL diet is largely mental.

AB is correct. There was a recent diet thread where daveT was markedly the best poster amongst of seas of veritable broskis who were just spouting off standard diet myths or coming up with 100 nonsense (try to eat many smaller meals, XXX calories is too low for anyone, eat XXX macronutrional breakdown, blah blah blah).

So yes, he's basically stopped that silliness.

Probably, I think the fact that I know I can eat again after tomorrows weigh-in makes it that much worse.

Mostly it was to prevent the ****ing idiots from telling some little tubby woman that "700 calories is too low" because they're morons.

Interesting postural observation. Was sitting in large meeting today. Noted most of women sat with neutral or extended lumbar and most men had lumbar rounding.

I was having a barbecue and my new neighbors offered green if we had an implement. Went next door with the implement, smoke, friend of a friend has a seizure.

Haven't hung out w/ the neighbors since.

There are several (and significant) physiological changes when you're in a severe and prolonged deficit. Especially when carbohydrates are restricted. See UD2.0 for that sweet box of arrows.

He was in his early 30s and it was his first seizure. Certainly wasn't his first time smoking. He took an enormous rip and lost his **** coughing for a few minutes. Like five minutes later he was on the floor. Then there was a room full of people wondering what the hell we just smoked and wondering who was next.

Like ten or twelve other people all ended up fine. Well, I was a paranoid mess because I'm always a paranoid mess so I got really drunk. Sox won.

How bad/weird is my roommates workout?
He's like a million times more athletic/fit than me...used to do BJJ a ton and did cross fit for a long time. His results look really good but seems like he's making things way more complex than they need to be and maybe over training? emailed me his weekly workout

He does 3 day split MWF and usually jumps rope for 10-20 minutes on Thurs / Sunday
Reps going 3x5, 3x7, 3x10 heavy, medium, light
3x5 is Squats, Military Press, BB Rows , Romanian Deadlift
3x7 is BB Lunges, Bench Press, Yates? rows, Deadlift,
3x10 is Squats, DB Shoulder Press(palms facing each other), TBar rows, Pushups, Pullups or Chins

Nice, where do think you'll put the review? Don't want to miss it.

I've quit lifting for the time being with what I hope is just bad bursitis, I'm dying. Probably going to see a doctor, but I need to make some changes going forward if I get past this.

Re: **8*8*8 March version Two(2) ***88***8

So it looks like I've got my mate enthused by starting strength. I'm starting him on.

Monday
- squat
- bench/press
- chins

Wednesday
-squat
- bench/press
- deads

Friday
-squat
- bench/press
- chins

Quick questoin...

Squatting last night his knees were terrible. He rocks forwards and caves in coming out of the hole. I told him to try curling his toes up and think about pushing his knees out further than he thinks he has to. Solid? Any other good ques?

fwiw, he is a weak/fatty and had ACL reconstruction last year, so I think once he gets some confidence, his form will improve greatly too.

Cool story bro.

Chest up. Make sure the bar is locked in there on the back and the upper back/grip is a tight package.

Whenever I used to fall apart in the hole the problem was a loss of rigidity in the low back (an extension of a sloppy upper body). The SS DVD was immensely helpful for me.

I always actively think about knees out.

Re: **8*8*8 March version Two(2) ***88***8

knees out has a way of shoring up lower back rigidity too, imo.

just fyi, I haven't died. but i'm on a bad stretch. got really sick on vacation. just recovering now. probably won't hit the gym until this weekend. gonna be really weak.
