JonFon,

Yeah. Rage is mood elevating. I rage very rarely now, but I raged for maybe 14 months straight. I wasn't ever sad.

I was born without a few emotions, or lost them during puberty or something. I don't get sad which is weird. It's almost to the point of sociopathy. I also don't get embarrassed which comes in handy.

I r weird sometimes

Bigger strength often improves performance but there are about a million other factors you have to consider to get the full picture. One of these things is technique, which you can only get from specific work, but Ross doesnt see this as important. When called out on these things he has a tendency to stop responding. There is no "holy grail", but it does sound good when you try to sell a product.
You're making a common logical error here. Just because someone ELSE who sprints can lift more than one guy does not mean he will be faster, no one is arguing that point, well maybe he is but that's not what I got out of it. The point is that making YOURSELF stronger will make you perform better. There's no point in comparing how much two different people lift, because as you said there are a million other factors.

About the angle of attack and 10m runs:
There are olympic weightlifters that can follow very fast sprinters over the first 10 meters. Basically for the same reasons that they often have a huge vertical jump: Their explosive strength is huge, and that is 90% of what you need in a fast start.
The technique(s) used by sprinters in the initial acceleration phase might in fact not be the fastest way of covering 10 meters. But other methods would put the body in a position where it wouldn't be able to apply the force efficiently in the following sections of the race.
So are you saying if you're strong enough to have an above average start (in comparison to elite sprinters, heh), that you will end up in a worse position later in the race? Or are strong starters just people who focus too much on one part of the race and that's the reason you're seeing ****ty performances from them later in the race?

Quote:
I agree with you, it's laughably incorrect and makes no sense.
The only argument I'd make for it in choosing it over the squat is that is a lot simpler to learn, but if you're going to be spending a significant amount of time in the weight room you need to be putting forth the effort to learn the more complicated movement anyways.

What do you think about his comments about not resorting to gimmicky stuff?

I posted this on 2/25

Squat = 145
Bench = 125
Deadlift = 155
Overhead Press = 70
Pendlay Row = 90

I feel good about this. I am weak right now, I won't be in a few months.
As of today, 3/17;

Squat = 145 -> 205
Bench = 125 -> 140
Deadlift = 155 -> 205
Overhead Press = 70 -> 90
Pendlay Row = 90 -> 110

Decent progress.

I really don't understand how so many of you make better progress on the squat than the deadlift.

people use the same jumps for each lift or they're just too cautious overall with increasing the deadlift.

I try to give my friends good advice on H+F type stuff but no one listens. It makes sense I don't really have crazy huge results that are visible when I'm just walking around or anything. But when I'm nice and sexy with my shirt off and everyone wants to know how I did it, I think I just going to troll everyone with terrible advice.

I ate lots of candy. You're body can only digest so much sugar at one time so I just ate candy all day and it kept me full. Oh, and 1k jumping jacks a day.

Or something along those lines.

One day some hottie will make some comment about your physical appearance in a self-evident way and it'll all be worth it. Soon after egomania will consume you.

Working with Crossfit and being self-aware don't seem to go hand in hand very well do they?

Shrug. It happens with any organization like this that is initially "radical." They handle growth very poorly and the leadership is terrible, so it spirals out of control (franchising/affiliates situation plays a large role in this since CF can't do much about it without getting taxed out the ass).

For all the faults CrossFit has (and there are many), it's done a lot of good for the "fitness" industry. It's worth remembering.

This exactly. I should be making 20lb jumps, but I just feel weird doing this.

Whatever. I've been holding OH and in the rack, paying special attention to guide it down with 2 hands. Should ship the press in a couple days.

I usually rage at least a couple hours a day, I wouldn't say it makes me euphoric per se, but it's a big part of emotional regulation and it goes along with/alternates with a kind of frenzied excitement.

Re: **8*8*8 March version Two(2) ***88***8

Cross-posted from my log.

Backstory - I have a injured suprasinatus.

Saw the physio today.

"Apparently my shoulder is on the mend. Pretty interesting advice from the physio. KEEP doing press exercises but make sure to ice my shoulder after workouts and also add in some unilateral work to try to identify, strengthen and rectify any imbalances I have. Also she said the the musculature on the left side of my spine/back is a lot bigger and significant than the right hand side. Weird.

I'm not sure how I am going to incorporate some unilateral stuff into my workouts; sub out some barbell stuff for dumbell stuff? Keep the barbell stuff but ADD dumbell stuff on top? Add a 4th (and 5th) workout day which could be considered "unilateral/rehab day"? Any suggestions?"
