You see this in football. Players zero in on a tackle and just get earholed. IIRC Hines Ward broke a guys jaw doing this and then giggled. ***** blasian.

Re: **8*8*8 March version Two(2) ***88***8

God damn the guys who run my baseball team piss me off to no end. I can deal with the ****ty lineups and nepatism, that's standard.

For the last couple of weeks we've been renting two indoor batting cages for BP. Which is great, b/c none of us can hit. Today I find out that one of the two cages will be used, and keep in mind we only have an hour, to do FULL SPEED mound work for our pitches, none of which have done any long toss, or throwing in general beyond the 30ft they've been throwing in the cage.

RAGE FACEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

it doesn't help that my coach, a lefty whose fastball tops out at ~50mph, will be one of the pitches getting work. He likes to make comments about how he hates pitching and only does it b/c we have nobody else. BRAH WE DO HAVE OTHER PEOPLE YOU"RE JUST A DELUSIONAL MORON

Pretty standard. Last year my coach recruited a guy to pitch for us; he was a lefty who was touching 82-83 despite a 4 year layoff. When I told him to take it easy on him, he had him take the mound to throw a simulated game in February. 30 pitches in, he suffered a debilitating spiral fracture of the humerus. Real smart, dudes.

whats the law (or general interpretation of) for contact in hockey? Seemed like the guy that made the hit in the first of those two clips got sent off? And whats the deal with stopping the game? Does that goal after the hit count?

edit: and do they have to be in posession to hit someone?

fml. I've already told both coaches what I think, which will probably negatively impact my playing time, but ****. One of the guys is a former college player, he should absolutely know better

Hit #1

Hit # 2

ETA: The Hits
Goddamn Toews got jacked up in the first video. You see that all the time when guys exit the penalty box and blast some dude who isn't paying attention.

Hossa's just an idiot for getting blasted in situation 2.

A lot of it is subjective (i.e. if the player doing the hitting is a star, then a call is less likely to be made. also, if it's a star being hit it's more likely to be a penalty) The game was stopped because of the scrum at center ice. In a lot of spots those are the actual penalties that get called. Both hits were clean, but players stick up for their teammates unless they are on the Rangers.

Another example I can think of involving Chicago was when Patrick Sharp was hit in a similar situation against St. Louis. Cam Barker came to his defense and got 17 PIM even though no one on St Louis was sent to the box.

Video

Also, you aren't allowed to leave your feet to make a hit, though again, that's subjective and often times difficult for the referee to see. As for timing, there is usually a split second timeframe where you can hit somebody after they've played the puck.

Skating is really fun, I wish I was better at it. Pretty pathetic that a kid born in Maine and raised in MA with a frozen pond near his house barely skated growing up. I did it for the first time in years last winter. My groin was so sore the next day.

I don't know what's worse -- that his spotter has a weight belt on, or that he probably actually needs it for the lumbar support.

Team deadlifts are actually cool. That gay **** where he's lifting his chest is... not.

I think football strength coaches would seem to qualify based on those videos.

Re: **8*8*8 March version Two(2) ***88***8

Yeah. Don't blame the players. It's the coaching.

Some programs have legitimate strength and conditioning staff members who know their **** and emphasize things that are important. IIRC Maryland is one of them. I was impressed after watching some videos of their work when I was watching Vernon Davis be a freak and a weird dude.

I think you're looking at a lot of amped up kids doing their best under the direction of an actual ******ed person/coach.

Can someone link the youtube vid of that white guy doing gymnastics, he did this thing where he did a bunch of backflippy things in a row while stripping down to his boxer shorts mid flips. Someone here called him the white Jackie Chan and said he should get an agent and do movies.

Ya well, soccer is more contact than any of the gay US sports which consist of 90% commercial time.

ETA: basically I don't care about sports any more though, didn't watch a single event from the Olympics.
