I like how Rip's current comments on foam rolling virtually contradict his previous comments about a angry lesbian masseuse.

Ugh ... I followed a few of the recommended links and came across this one.

OMGbad form and lol @ the spotter helping the guy on Deadlifts.

Honestly, the S&C coach should be fired for this crap but I guess this is pretty standard for HS football.

lol a deadlift spotter.

There were instructions (and photos) in my personal training certification textbook about how to properly spot a deadlift.

Did you guys really miss the double spot on his hang clean?

Looks like he is pushing in the guys back to give him some lumbar extension. His lower back looks pretty round though so not sure it is really working.

I just had an ultra-sound done. Yup. I'm preggo.

Actually it's supposed to be pretty good for certain injuries, my current rib injury being one of them. I had it done about a week ago and it seems like it was significantly better the following few days, but I think it was getting better anyway. I had it done again so hopefully it will be all better in the next few days.

Anyone else had an ultra-sound done before?

I actually watched that one first but thought the DL was more LOL.

I love how the spotters are doing like half the work. His squat video is pretty lol too.

I woulda took the opposing stance on that.

Now I'm just sleepy and going to go to bed.

Sorry I missed the 4am fight request. I would've called you out on going to Reno. That place is a dizzzzummmppp.
03-05-2010 , 02:24 PM
A lot of it sucks, but the Grand Sierra and Peppermill are both pretty sweet. It's also only a ~3 hour drive.

But yeah most of the town sucks.

See how passive I am? I was in rare form at 4am I would fought about it.

I'm thinking about playing hockey in some amateur league here for something to do next winter. I played a ton of roller hockey and skated a bunch when I lived in the Midwest, but haven't done so in awhile.

Hrm. Lots of open ice times and stick and puck sessions. Could be fun. A bunch of dudes at work play, and while it's no checking, that's probably for the best. Leagues with wide disparity in skill should probably not allow open ice hitting, as that could be... disastrous.

I will agree on Grand Sierra being dece. I stayed there for 2 weeks in Sept/oct. Cheap ass rooms, nice casino. My impression on the locals in the games and the other spots around town was basically that the town is dead. I vowed to never go back without good reason.

Lol at some 150 pound ice hockey player checking you Kyle, that would be lolololol to see.

I used to rollerblade a lot from like 1st-5th grade and I went ice skating a couple years ago and I freakin' kicked ass. Skatin backwards all that stuff. Lots of carryover for the two, imo.

I imagine a hockey team would be fun tho

I went skating today for the first time in ~5 years. Had to stop after 20mins cause my feet hurt so bad.

Yeah, I'm not worried about getting hit. It's the other guys. Boarding isn't even the real problem - getting hit in the open ice is absurdly dangerous if you are lol unskilled.

I can skate pretty well, but it's been awhile. I'd definitely like to see how strength training has carried over. My agility and puck handling skills are probably lolololololol at this point, though. Not that they were ever good in the first place, though.

yeaaahhh budddayyy!!!! i just got a bunch of hockey gear in the mail. going to play with a stick and puck the first time in 15 years TODAY! definitely joining a league.
03-05-2010 , 02:34 PM
Haha. Blowing people up is more about self-awareness and insanity than size. Lead with the head + inhibition of colliding head first at full speed = bling blang blaow

Cool. PM me where you bought gear if you've done research on this stuff.

Exactly. I talk to the HS football coaches where I coached baseball all the time. The real problem for their non-skill players is not athleticism or strength (both areas that they do suck in, BTW) but insanity and intensity. You would think hormonal testosterone-rage-filled HS kids would want to hit hard and be nuts, but it's apparently quite tough to find safeties and linebackers who are willing to hit hard with NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE.

It easy to blast someone when your head isn't throbbing and your stinger isn't flaring up. But its all worth it when you see someone crumple to the ground and the medical staff come running out.

Yea, this. People are generally terrible at keeping their head up in the middle of the ice. This is what usually leads to the huge open ice collisions. It's happened to 2 Blackhawks players this year and both were concussed as a result.

Hit #1

Hit # 2
