Re: **8*8*8 March version Two(2) ***88***8

Maybe this belongs in the beginner thread, but in light of the recent discussion I thought it would be appropriate here.

Why do we only talk about fat and muscle when discussing weight gain? I've heard plenty about bones becoming stronger as a result of prolonged heavy lifting, i.e. how a normal person's forearms couldn't withstand the stresses involved in an olympic-caliber C&J, or how steroid-using athletes' muscular strength gains can outpace their gains in skeletal/tendon/ligament strength, which frequently leads to injury.

If these increases in bone strength do happen (please correct me if I'm just way off base), it seems very likely that they're due to increased bone size or density. Given the amount of milk/calcium a lot of people on these programs are consuming, maybe these increases in bone mass aren't negligible.

I just googled and found out that the skeleton is only ~14% of total body weight (I thought this was surprisingly small), so any reasonable changes in bone mass aren't going to have much of an effect on total body weight. I guess this post is kind of useless then, but I'd still be interested to know if we are actually increasing bone density by lifting and drinking lots of milk.

Re: **8*8*8 March version Two(2) ***88***8

im sure it contributes to the odd pound here and there, but i guess its pretty impossible to measure, which in its self limits the usefulness of talking about it. also since getting a wolverine type skeleton is undoubtedly a good thing, its reasonable to lump it in with other lean mass gains

yes, bone density is increased by heavy lifting. i forget the details, but it has something to do with the compression forces aiding bone formation.

Milk has everything baby mammals need to grow muscle, bones, tendons, ligaments etc. rapidly, which is why it's awesome.

Isn't LBM considered everything besides fat anyway?

ETA: Wait, nevermind. 100% - BF% = everything else. Just didn't think about that.

I think I'm gonna quit SS and instead do Iso7x. This commercial's pretty convincing.

Most people would probably just assume this means Clean and Jerk, but a "Continental" Clean and Jerk would allow more weight to be lifted. I wonder if anyone will try it?

Re: **8*8*8 March version Two(2) ***88***8

trying to google and wiki "visceral fat" doesn't lead to much info, which is another part of the equation calipers can't test. i would like to be 100x more knowledgeable in this arena, but that's all i can say. so i ask, how much visceral fat do normal people hold and does extremely fast weight gain tend to put on a higher percentage of it than moderate weight gain?

Since I know there are a lot of you guys in Thailand/SA/etc. I found this gem of a site earlier: http://www.globaldatingrevolution.com/

Its a pure mixture of idiocy, misogyny and stupidity wrapped up into ******ation.

PS: Estonia doesn't get mentioned once. lol wtf? Apparently, impoverished brown people + Russian mail order brides is what he meant by "global" and "foreign".

[QUOTE=Nottom;17241461]Watching this guy (Derek Poundstone) do the "continental lift" at the beginning made me think about one of the WODs for the NC/SC Crossfit Sectional (which is happening right down the road from me):

Quick question about Derek Poundstone. I watched a deadlift video of his in which it appeared he did not have great lumbar extension. Has he figured out a way to safely pull tremendous weight w/o lumbar extension, or does he have it and it just does not appear like he does because of the belt/his overall posture/etc.?

Too small and its too wealthy now that its part of the EU. Belarus with Stalin-style communism is a hot spot for this stuff still. Ukraine as well. Canada/Oz/US will all do really well trying to find girls just looking to gtfo. It actually is probably pretty ezpz as the girls you find gridning Engrish by candelight at the ones looking to bail too.

Hrm. I think there is a strong correlation between the women he advises pursuing and Bayesian probability of a stabbing going down. Poor + Brown = Knife skills

I know I'm a sandy vagina but my gut is starting to depress me. Why can't I gain fat more evenly across my body? Is the end of SS for me near?

That's why I am eating less. Well since I've been in Reno it's been pure omononom+shot+beer+omoonomomon since it's free obv.

I gain fat almost entirely on my gut. I think my face looks a bit fatter but it's a trivial amount. My legs have always been super lean. Super super lean. That's cool I guess.

F i missed a lot in my drunken stupor over the last few days.
