oh and what's up with people who clean in the 300s and deadlift in the 400s. Midget twitch-blast isometrics or something.
You don't have to lift something much higher to clean it than to deadlift it.

Yeah every jack russle i've met(?) is crazy hyper barky. That's sweet you got a mellow lap dog. Not the norm in my experience.

it isn't a jack russell. it is a rat terrier which is similar to a jack but more mellow in general, but still active. i just got the calmest of the calmer.

my neighbor is that guy.

she barks but not very loud and not for long. general protective barking, etc. <10lb dogs can't do much. just make sure you are getting one that is going to be this small and not 20lb or something. she was 2.5lb at 8 weeks old fwiw.

it's the ninja under it and front squat it that I find impressive because there's no way I could do that as a % of my deadlift

are most people here not doing that? seems much easier than trying to get the bar up. it's what i see in the olympics vids, though those guys are lifting really heavy ass weights.

As much as i want to make fun of all these dog pics and question you guys manlieness, i just can't. So cute.

Did you guys see a programme about dogs/wolves and foxes that was really good. They bred a few generations of foxes (choose the tamest to breed) and after a few generations very doglike changes began appearing, like different colour coats, wierd ears that didn't appear in the control group. I'd recommend it.

Yeah. I agree. Many use lol suboptimal DL technique though, since they "DLing" as a way to gauge positional breakdown, not really lift heavy ass weight. So to compare a DL that induces thoratic rounding and prevents some degree of scapular retraction is really nothing like what Oly lifters call deadlifting.

these dogs are awesome. But they usually have a lot of spit around the mouth and then they shake their heads and it goes flying all over the place. That can be very awful indoors. The puppies are probably one of the cutest things in the world.

Since St. Patty's day has passed my local Shaw's has corned beef briscuit on sale for $2.50/lb. Bought a 4 pounder on Saturday just to test it out and had to buy another on Monday. I'll probably get 1 more on Thursday then won't eat beef again for ~3 months.

<3 pugs, breathing/nose thing does suck big time tho
03-23-2010 , 07:26 PM
we used to have a pug, she was the cutest thing ever but unfortunately had so many ear/nose problems and she ended up going blind from too many ear infections etc... id probably not get one again because it was too sad, she ended up being pretty miserable for the last year of her life with the health issues.

I'm going curling tonight (not Canadian.) I plan on double snatching the stones (each one is a bit over a pood) and then demanding they let me on the Olympic team for 2014. Easy trip to Russia.

Double snatching the stones on ice sounds like a good way to break your ass in half.

The new Princeton study on HFCS that is in the press this week is tilting me pretty hard. Or rather, all the morons posting about it on Facebook and Buzz are.

"I guess that's why I just can't seem to get rid of this leftover baby flab on my stomach."

"I wish I could say it's why I'm fat - rather, it might be a big reason why I'm fat, but it sure isn't why I'm staying fat. I avoid it too."

No, you fat f***ers, that is not why you are fat.

They remind me of people who say **** like "Mixing alcohol will give you a wicked hangover, I had 8 beers, 4 G&Ts, a few Jack and Cokes, and a couple glasses of wine last night and I had a seriously brutal headache man."

Lax laws on alcohol purity = wicked hangovers
