Cool video Kyle. Kind of a bummer that you need THAT much light to have anywhere near a decent picture.

Yep. Filming outside is fine given all the sunlight and reflection off the ground, but indoors is another story. Luckily flood lights are ~$10 from Home Depot and work well in multiples.

Thanks for playing, now stfu, even when the absolute BF% is actually higher because of inaccuracy.

Going to try the Metabolic Diet by Dr. Mauro Di Pasquale.

Basically High Fat/High Protein/Low Carb during the week, then Carb load over the weekend.

Meant to be pretty optimal for loosing weight while maintaining muscle mass.

Anyone tried/interested in this? I have the ebooks if anyone wants a copy.

An excellent (if old) post by EC about why runners should train with heavy weights:

http://ericcressey.com/five-resistan...-running-world

This actually uses science to back up his claims. Unlike jogsxyz, who uses... nothing.

Also, have exactly 3 weeks till the next push/pull comp through my gym, want to just deadlift but have kind of screwed myself since i've still got 1 more deload exercise left for this last 5/3/1 cycle.

Im thinking that I could perhaps invert my usual 5/3/1 order, and do Military Press/Deadlifts/Bench/Squats which would mean my 3rd max week would be the same w/e of the comp, so then instead of repping out ill just do a 1RM?

Hopefully I can drop the last 5kgs before the w/e as well so I can squeeze into the 90kg class for once.

good squat rx post about elbow position when squatting. http://squatrx.blogspot.com/2010/02/...squatting.html

What does he mean by "forward"? That cue is as useless as "up" imo.

Didn't know they had a blog. I like their videos.

Would like a read. PMing you now.

Atleast the Crossfag WOD named after me is badass. 75 ring HSPU... I'm sure there are people that can complete this. Maybe the Hamm brothers.

gamfb I'd even venture that there are almost no CFers who can do 75 HSPUs in a decent amount of time with full ROM.

How long does it take to get your account verified on the SS forums? I've been waiting for almost two days now.

hmm i've been doing it wrong exactly like the dude in the picture there (and have arm problems from squatting which i don't know how to fix). But what else could elbows up mean?

So just parallel to the body is the way to go now?

I'm confused

ya very confused also. luckily the guy used the two worst photos in the world to illustrate his point.

I think he means the elbow needs to be lower than the bar. Under the bar is very unclear because it reminds me of the bench press. So squeezing your back and elbows up must not result in elbows that are higher than the bar. You still need to stick them out backwards to create tightness. That's the way that I understand the post.

Agree, very cool video thanks for posting Kyle. I don't think I'll have enough light though, bummer.

From personal experience I think elbows up, scapula pressed together (like in the bench) is the best cue. Scapula together is more important if your grip is wider, since a closer grip automatically leads to decent position.

Those two cues + a vicious back massage all but cured me of the elbow/biceps pain I experienced squatting.

I just try to think of creating a shelf. This naturally leads to me pulling together my shoulder blades.

Boys,

First off, thanks for all the regs here I've learned alot from you.

I am a skinny guy (6 foot, 180 lbs, not much muscle) trying to get hooge. So I am doing SS for a month now and trying to eat until I puke. But I am kind of worried about the long term effects of binge eating to get big....like I see alot of guys saying they try to pound down 3 mcDubbles, but at what cost is this to life expectency?

I know the answer is stop being a pussy, but really?
03-03-2010 , 01:51 PM
Dont do SS for just a month. Don't eat like crazy. Do so once your progress starts to slow. 6' 180 with not much muscle isn't lean.

You'll be doing this for 3-9 months of your life, don't worry about it.

ETA: I assumed he meant that he's been doing SS for one month now, not planning to do it for one month.

How old are you?

A few months of relatively unhealthy eating to build loads of muscles won't matter that much i think (eps if you're really skinny, you may even end up healthier longterm).

Most people did it for years on end combined with heavy drinking in college and most of them turn out just fine.
03-03-2010 , 02:02 PM
I have been eating a ton too, gallon of whole milk a day, and I've never felt healthier. I have barely put on any fat either. Dont worry about that at all, you'll be gaining life expectancy instead of losing it imo.
03-03-2010 , 02:54 PM
Yeah, I didn't mean that I plan on doing SS for a month, I've been doing it for a month and plan on going till I level off I guess.

I am not lean no, but I want to get bigger. And from everything I've seen it says eat eat eat to get the muscles and those squats will turn the cheeseburgers into muscles.

I guess that makes sense that the bulking part does not last for a great deal of time in the grand scheme of things.

I mean I thought I should be bulking now I'm not sure. I want to get bigger arms and legs and would be fine if my kinda soft stomach stays like that. If my arms and torso get stronger with SS I think it will look good? Which is all I'm after but not at the cost of my health. I am not lean, i am soft in the torso area and my arms and legs are skinny. I want to change this mostly by bulking up my extremities. Eating as much as I can and lifting heavy weight every other day seems like the best way to do this, No?
03-03-2010 , 02:57 PM
eating like an animal is the most effective way to build strength and muscle quickly, but i personally believe eating at a 500 - 1k kcal surplus is smarter for most non crazy skinny people with no intention of becoming strength athletes.
