It's intro to exercise science 101. Of course most people don't get it.

jay, you can stop posting about how awesome you are. We all know it already

re: overhead squat. yeah def not. I'm eventually going to learn these, but they're hard as **** and have a decent skill component.

why didn't anyone tell me how sweet the smoked ham macros are? a 6oz package is 150cals, 27/3/6 (p,f,c). also found some sweet logcal bagels. sourdough garlic+cheese, 240 cal, 35g carb, 20g protein.

But I'm just trying to get ready for the CF sectional this weekend. If I don't think I'm awesome I can't be awesome. The whole CF wardrobe is more than just an outfit, its an attitude.

(Just in an extra douchey mood this week. Sorry...)

i could have said squat or dl, but then there's no upper body strength required. plus i wanted to derail the derail. OHS requires loltastic amounts of upper body stabilization.

i would also like to argue for turkish get-ups.

edit: sickest thing i've ever seen in the gym is a guy doing a turkish get up with 180lbs.

I just don't eat enough protein. **** it. I'll live.

Jaysick

Have you picked out your board shorts? And can you coat your body in chalk before a metcon? Like your calves, chest, back, neck etc Maybe make some tribal markings on your face in chalk. Ideally don't chalk places you need it. it'd be way sick esp if you pwned the gheycon too.

Given that measuring strength with one exercise is quite silly, I think the OH Squat would be one of the actual worst ones to do it with since it involves so many variables that are not considered "strength." Wouldn't the deadlift be the best?
03-02-2010 , 11:42 PM
yeah i think deadlift would be best

Looking forward to 2011 when I meet Jaysick and he's the same BW but squatting 90 pounds more and completely embarrassing me when we go lift before going to the deadlift world challenge.

Just went through the locked March LC thread. Lets be frank here. Zach Evetts looked better before he grew the moobs. Looks like a little less milk and a little more elliptical could be a good thing.

I doubt I'll be pwning anything unfortunately. Still deciding on wardrobe.

I don't even want to think about attempting a 3x BW squat.

A "proper" deadlift actually requires a fair amount of flexibility, training and coordination. I am not ashamed to say I have been working on it several months and still suck. But I guess if you dont mind killing your back it is something anyone could do once.

Anyone have that casio p&s camera that can do high speed video? Thinking of picking one up for oly lifts, seems pretty cool and thought maybe someone here would have it or at least be interested in it. Pretty sure that over 60fps would be unnecessary, but I guess it can do up to 1000fps (very tiny image as it gets faster).

Yes. I use it extensively when filming baseball pitching mechanics. You need TONS of light. Here's a sample using overhead HID lights, florescent lights, and a flood light focused on the pitcher to show you what I mean:
