Year of the rooster

I stopped making goals because I was enjoying snickering at the resolution thread every December 31st. If you have no goals, you can't fail. And it's a pathetic way to live. I rather fail but at least give it a shot.

5:20 mile
405 deadlift @165
275 bench @165
21 pull-ups

Same as last year's goals.

1. Weigh under 77kg on 12/31
2. 10 strict pullups

Hit #2 last year, then broke foot and ****ed up shoulder so I'm at a worse starting point than I was a year ago.

Met a few goals, lost a few goals. Pullups for max reps can't be a goal for me because of pec/bicep tendon pain. Gotta set some sorta goal on bb rows/tbar rows next year. Will post 2017 goalz later.

Your right-handed naturally I assume? Depending on what courses you play and how hard their par is (and I suppose how good you are) that sounds pretty tough.

I don't have anything more specific than this because, honestly, I have no idea what my body is capable of. I know I'm going to make a ton of gains this year, though. 2016 was the era of Renton becoming a not fat-****. 2017 will be the era of Renton becoming a not weak-****. As for 2018, IEL status?

No idea where you're at now, but that's an impressive ****ing list.

Has anyone in the history of H&F done both a one armed pullup and OHP of 245?

Yeah, started throwing lefty this year due to shoulder pain and it went better than I expected. Distance came out fine but aim took longer. Haven't played since the summer but did shoot one strict round of 3 over and 1-overed 9 a few times (never hit any trees or hazards and hit some long putts). That was with beginner-weight discs, so theoretically there's room for improvement. The course I play is hard...for righties, heh, heh.

Well I may be overshooting a little, but a year's a long time and I do have history on those:

*The OHP is just the one I really want, and all the assistance work I'm doing is for that. I've done sets of 5 at 165, and technically I haven't started microloading yet. I've read that getting weighted dips over 100 lbs will help a lot.

*I used to be able to do 1-arm pullups (though never with the right) back when I was a rock climber. I backed off due to elbow pain (unrelated), but was surprised how quickly I got back to +70 lb pullups this year. Feel like I've laid a decent foundation to try to build up to it again but obviously have to be careful. It's hard and a little stressful but it ain't no front lever. The great thing about doing 1-arm pullup is you never know when someone's going to bet you can't do one, which is pretty much anyone you tell you can do one. Plus I'm 100% certain it would make some of the college kids eat their livers!

*Handstand is a yoga thing and my whole studio was working on it (before I got pneumonia). Obviously my combined plan is to do handstand pushups to impress the hot yogis. Impressing the hot yogis is reeeeeeeeeeaaaal important to Holliday.

*Wheelchair would mean 2.5 years to recover safe functional walking, which for her injury is actually pretty aggressive. We are kind of ambitious with her program, and she wants to be rid of the chair yesterday.

*Squat/DL sets of 5 this year; 360/425. It's been all beginner gains, but I've been enjoying it and not planning on stopping (plus not yet microloading). Also leaving myself some wiggle room by not saying "x5".

*315 bench; Done 255x5 and I sorta just see this going up without much extra effort as a side effect of the OHP work. Was thinking of microloading and/or switching to sets of 3 before realizing I was sick a few weeks ago. In HS, I only remember *not* getting 275 up, so that'll be a PR. Again with the wiggle room.

*200M butterfly, I like the fly and was doing 100m this year. Strength I added this year makes the stroke a lot easier. Real problem is I don't just go to the pool to work on butterfly.

*I have to build the dining table. I like to build my own stuff and I already have the wood.

In theory, my whole situation is changing from wife getting out of emergency medical status. Only getting two of those would probably be pretty disappointing. I mean, it depends on the two, but probably.

You have no shot at some of those. The goals will conflict. The OHP goal is zero percent at natty. Maybe 1% shot if roided up.

Please more reasonable goals or get banned from my thread. I also might ban melkerson for weaksauce goals. At least 15+ pull-ups dude. You can hit 10 on an 8 week program.
