Weigh in day. 206.2 Up 1.8 from last, down 8.8 in 7 weeks.

Meh. Repeat posts 28, 29 and 30 from earlier in the thread.

I did have a real life week, went to a BBQ on Saturday, drank 3 or 4 beers. Still think overall I didn't do too bad for the week eating wise. Hard to say that when I see the results, but not going to sweat it.

I've been doing more of the body shaping classes then bike riding lately, but that will change in April for sure. My upper body had gotten weaker then even I knew, and while I know that the type of work out in the class is not optimal for getting strong, I am getting stronger while doing some aerobic work, which fits my biking goal.
My intermediate goal weight was 200 by May. I can still get there.

I guess everyone whose weight has fluctuated over the years has pants of various sizes. My biggest pair of jeans is 38 waist relaxed fit. Those are for when I'm 215+. I have some 36 regular fit that are good between 205 - 212. Last night I went to the store to find a pair, and the ones that fit me best were 34 waist slim fit. That has to be the smallest pair of pants I've had in something like 15 years. Even when I could get in a 34 waist in the past, I'm pretty sure they were loose or relaxed fit.

Right now all my fat is around my waist (belly button and side saddles), some in my moobs, and a little in my neck.

A fat neck, that is a new one on me.

Buying small jeans is the best. And yeah I have a few fat pairs around, just in case.

I literally used to hate trying to buy jeans at my fattest, I'd have to try on a ton of pairs to find one magic pair that fit. I've always had disproportionally fat legs.

Weigh in day. 204.6. Down 1.6 from last week, down 10.4 from beginning of log. I was here 2 weeks ago, so I'm in a bit of a plateau. I know I have had some leaks in my diet but I still think I should be in a deficit. If not, 180 might be really difficult to hit. I'm not giving up tho.
I've been faithful to doing body shaping workouts, but not as faithful to riding my bike, which is odd for a bike riding log. Getting in some spin bike rides and did a 38 mile ride on a really nice Saturday last week, but that is less than I really should be doing. Now that April is here I'm sure the balance between the two workouts will change in favor of the bike.

Maybe this was what was going on for me. I essentially stayed between 204 and 206 for the last 5 weeks. I did think I was making progress even though the scale didn't reflect it. Clothes fit better, I am able to do more in the body shaping class, etc. Now I need to get out and ride some more.

Thanks, I'm as sick of typing it as you are of reading it.

It's been a weird spring in Dallas. We gotten some much needed rain, and even when it's not raining it's been kind of crappy, cloudy and windy, so my ride motivation has been low. I've been more motivated to do the body shaping class at LA Fit, for some odd reason. It's me, two other guys, my wife, daughter and 20 other women, lol, but I really feel like its what I have needed to increase my overall fitness, which has been lacking. That makes me tired and less prone to ride. The last few weeks my schedule has been:
Monday evening - Boot Camp class
Tuesday morning - 45-60 minute spin bike
Wednesday evening - Body shape class
Thursday morning - 45-60 minute spin bike
Friday evening - Body shape class
Saturday - Long ride on real bike

So some spin bike but little real bike. I've missed a morning or two on spin bike, but I've mostly done everything on the list for 3 weeks. The evening - morning turn around has been a little tough, and I did not hit spin bike this AM. but I am going tonight.

Do you ever ride with groups? Is that a thing in Dallas (I know of a few at least). I find it helps motivation a lot.

It's less boring, it feels a little more accountable (the ride is over when it's over, not when you're tired of it. It starts when it starts, not when you get dressed and go out to do it, etc.

I do the Saturday morning ride with Richardson Bike Mart. They have a couple of rides during the week, I believe, but I can't hang with those guys. It would be nice to find some guys to ride with closer to home, but there aren't any groups within about 10 miles of my house. Maybe I should start a Rowlett Wednesday night ride and see if I could get any takers.

Are you healed up from your crash? I really feel like a baby complaining about the weather now that I recall you took a spill.

Healed enough I guess. I've done several rides in the last week. Including one in the rain

I'm a little worried about my neck still.

Weather broke better than expected this weekend, got in a couple of decent rides. 35 miles on Saturday, 25 on Sunday. I'm at my lowest weight since 2011, and felt good on the bike. Temps in the 70's helped also. Weigh in tomorrow.

Weigh in day, 200.6, down 2 from last week, down 14.4 from beginning of log, 10 weeks.

Pretty happy with that. My diet is certainly not perfect, but much better then it was. My biggest fault is still too much fat and sodium, some days.

This might be a little tougher week, getting together for a few days with family and a wedding, but will try not to lose any ground, at least.

Thanks. I didn't want to overplay it in my post two days ago, but I did the RBM fast 20 ride on Saturday. That is a group I can hang with but I'm usually on my threshold and any little incline it's a struggle to hang on. This past weekend it was a little easier. I cant wait to see what it feels like when I'm at 190.

Spent 5 days in Atlanta with family and nephews wedding. Way too much drinking and eating. I'm not shocked or surprised. Back to the program.

Weigh in day, 198.6, down 4 from last week, down 16.4 from beginning of log, 12 weeks.

Happy with that. Had some decent rides on the weekend, got in 60+ miles. This weight is where I stalled out in 2011. I feel good about my chances of continuing to lose this time. My wife is more invested this time, so less sweets and junk food are coming into the house. Makes compliance easier.

Since I am giving myself 18 months to accomplish my goal, I am setting intermediate goals:
1. 200 pounds by May
2. 5/17/2015 Santa Fe Half Century http://santafecentury.com/The_Rides/...ide/index.html
3. TBD
4. 5/2106 Santa Fe Century
5. July 2016 Triple Bypass
1 is complete, at least. Also, I surely meant to put a goal to get to 180 somewhere on that list. I guess I should revise it:
Since I am giving myself 15 months to accomplish my goal, I am setting intermediate goals:

1. 5/17/2015 Santa Fe Half Century http://santafecentury.com/The_Rides/...ide/index.html
2. 180 pounds by end of 8/2015
3. 5/2106 Santa Fe Century
4. July 2016 Triple Bypass

Also, there is a large part of me that wants to go for the full Santa Fe Century this year. A half century seems really short to me, especially with the first half essentially down hill. The one thing I'm not sure of is how bad the altitude will affect me. I may not make the call until a test ride before the event.

Weigh in day, 198.6. No change. Down 16.4, 13 weeks.

Got some good week end rides in(44 miles and 24 miles). This week reminded me just how much of a challenge it can be to find time to do the things I like to do, rather than the things I have to do. Fitness certainly has to be a priority or there is never time. The trip to Santa Fe in two weeks may be in jeopardy due to in-law health issues.

Weigh in day, 196.0. Down 2.6 this week and down 19 overall, 13 weeks.

Definitely will not be able to go to Santa Fe this weekend, due to extenuating circumstances. Life happens but will not meet that goal. Will try to ride a metric century locally. I am in so much better shape than 3 months ago, due to weight loss and working out.

Thanks. I was checking my old log, and it looks like I never got under 198. I plateaued there for the whole summer of 2011. I don't really recall what the issue was, I was riding a lot. I know I was not counting calories. Certainly wasn't careful enough about what I ate. I know this log often sounds like a litany of excuses, as do other logs that I read on here, it's amazing how often life intercedes in our best plans, but I am working out as often as I can.

Weigh in day, 195.0. Down 1 this week and down 20 overall, 15 weeks.

I managed to ride a metric century of my own last Saturday. I ride 17 miles from my house to a bike shop, ride with their 29 mile group, then 17 miles home. 63 miles with 29 at my threshold pace.

The local bike shop has several group rides, but the 3 that matter to me are:
Donut run - 20 miles @ 14 computer avg
Fast 20 - same route @ 16 avg
29'er - 29 miles @ 16+ avg

The 29'er has always been a stretch for me. A 16 avg in an urban environment means a lot of the ride is at 18-22 mph to make up for stops. I usually get dropped on a couple of short punchy hills after the 13 mile mark, Even if I manage to catch back on after a red light or something I'm cooked and just get dropped again. I used to blame the extra miles in my legs but I'm pretty careful to ride the first 17 mile at EM pace, so I don't think it really matters.

Anyway, long story short, with the weight loss and fitness classes, I'm getting closer and closer to hanging onto this ride the whole way. They don't lose me on the short punchy hills, now I get dropped on the longer hill after the 17 mile mark, lol.

I have one more empirical data check point coming up. June 13th there is an area ride called the Collin Classic. It is one of the bigger rides in the area, usually draws 2000+ riders. I've started the ride the last two years with a couple that I'm friends with that are just year or two older than me. They are both in really good shape, they cycle and run. Anyway, last year I rode with them for 30 miles before telling them to go on, as their pace was a little too high for me. I am hoping this year I can hang with them for the whole ride.
