I play baseball in a sort of wood bat sandlot baseball league in my hometown, 3 days a week from mid-May till Labor Day weekend. The level of baseball is pretty good, with probably well over 85% of the players having played in college. With quite a few division one players and a couple players who played professionally in one way or another. It is quite competitive, and allows us guys to continue to play baseball well beyond our high school and college days. I personally led the league in homeruns 2 of the last 3 years, with last year being my worst hitting year in my life, only hitting 1 homerun and under .300 for the first time in my entire life. I really struggled, in part, because of being out of shape, and in part because my eye sight continues to degrade with having a terrible astigmatism and scar on my left cornea, which is my dominant eye, from an infection I got several years ago, along with breaking my left wrist twice in a calendar year. All that combined to make for a rather miserable year. My team, which has historically been a powerhouse in the area finished with a losing record for the first time in probably well over 30 years, if not more. The worst part is, we lead the league in runs scored, just our defense and pitching were not up to snuff. I take some of the blame for that with my defense really suffering and then being out for a month+ with a broken wrist.

So, today December 13th 2017 is exactly 150 days until opening day for the season and I figured it was a good time to start a challenge for myself. I recently ran a 90-day challenge where I lost weight leading up to a photo shoot for some friend’s businesses. I ended up losing 28.7 lbs in those 90 days, all through eating at a large deficit with basically nonexistent exercise. I lost a lot of weight and felt good about myself, but even though it felt good to see the number continuously fall, fitting into smaller clothing, it wasn’t something that I could maintain long term. I also noticeably lost some of the muscle I had. This challenge is meant to be a jumping board into a lifestyle I can maintain going forward. I sit at a computer playing poker 40+ hours a week, so my biggest issue is lack of exercise.

Along with getting in better shape for the upcoming baseball season, I also decided to add a little more motivation by gambling on my weight loss at Dietbet.com. I signed up for a 6 month “transformer” group where the end goal is to lose 10% of your body weight in 6 months. Personally, this should be beyond easy for me, if I keep any semblance of consistency. I also plan on entering 4 week challenges every month during this time line, where the goal is to lose 4% of your body weight to help keep me motivated each month. I am weird like this, I hate to gamble. I play poker for a living and am perfectly fine losing hundreds a day, but any sort of gambling outside of poker gives me the heebie-jeebies. For some reason any sort of betting on anything besides poker is just uncomfortable to me. I am hoping that betting on my own weight loss will help motivate me more.

Plan
- Go to the Gym 6 days a week.
- Lifting - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Cardio - Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday or Sunday, taking the other day off.
- Meal prep my meals for the week
- Log everything I eat in Myfitnesspal and post the screen shots in the log
- Weigh myself every morning and post the weight here
- Have 22 total cheat meals during the 150 days. (this comes out to basically 1 a week)

Goals
- 150 days
- Lose fat and gain some strength and muscle, getting my body ready for a baseball season for the first time in years
- Win every single one of my weight wagers
- Start streaming my poker play for PA legalization
- Create a routine for sleep, poker, fitness and stick to it

- Beyond 150 days
- Get down to 175lbs, if not reached during the challenge
- Continue workout routine during the baseball season cutting out the cardio
- Start dating again
- Perhaps start a new log, maybe continue this one
- Buy new car/maybe buy a house

I found during my last challenge that when I consistently logged, I performed much better and was far less likely to go off the rails. So, I plan on logging every day, in hopes that it will help with keeping me on track in here as well. I want to get back to the point where it is routine to go to the gym and workout, I function much better on a routine and playing poker pretty much whenever I want sort of ruins the possibility of a routine, so hopefully the routine I had created for myself will help with my poker playing and help getting into shape for the baseball season.

12/13 - Day 1

Weight: 220.3

That's 6.9 lbs more than I was when I finished my 90 day challenge, but that's to be expected and not alarming because I expect that to fall off fairly quickly now that I am back eating healthy and working out. With being at 220, that means I have 40-45 lbs to lose to reach the 175-180 range. That will probably be out of reach for these next 150 days, but I am not overly worried about hitting any weight this go around, I am more worried about getting into a routine of physical activity and continued healthy eating.

With that being said, I went started off by going to the gym today and doing a a full body workout with not to heavy weights, to slowly get my body back into working out. I have started working out numerous times in the past and went hard from the beginning and made my self super sore and it hampered me from continuing, so, I figured it wouldn't hurt to ease myself back into it.

I did:
Chest Press
Leg Press
Calf Extensions
Shoulder Press
Tri Press
Leg Extensions
Bicep Curls

3 sets of 12 reps each

I still expect to be sore tomorrow, or the next, but hopefully it wont be too bad.

For food for day 1:

I meal prepped a bunch of chicken and have a bunch of ham I got on sale. I didn't realize how much sodium was in those vegetables, and ham, though I should have, so after I finish off everything I bought this time, I will make some changes going forward. I plan on staying around 1800-2000 calories and I plan on posting every night after I finished eating for the day. Welp, day 1 is in the bag.

Gah the sodium in those vegetables is crazy!

Good luck with your challenge. Dietbet might be a good way to stay motivated for the long stretch. I am exactly the same btw in regards to gambling outside of poker!

Word. Fresh vegetables taste better and are pretty easy to cook well. Fresh frozen doesn't have the added sodium either, at least as far as I'm aware, and is probably more cost effective.
