Well, that escalated quickly... Warm those arms up, Aidan!
I got a message around lunch time today saying that my mate's opponent has withdrawn from his fight tomorrow night and do I want to fill in... Sure! Why the f*ck not!
I'm actually pretty happy about the way it panned out. I'm probably not as prepared as I would like, but it's comfortable in that I'm in my home gym and against a guy I've sparred with a fair bit... feels more like a sparring session with some people watching.
If I end up getting a "real" fight on the 4th of July, this will be a nice warm-up imo.
He's fitter, quicker and more skilful than me, but I'm officially 10kg heavier (in clothes) than him as he cut down to 76kg for his original match up. So I guess in reality, the the difference might be 5-6kg.
Like I said a few posts back, against this guy I'm probably a 3-1 or 4-1 dog. I can sometimes take the occasional round off him, but will have to be "on" and him "off" if I'm a chance of winning.
It will be 3x 2min rounds, so hopefully his fitness advantage won't come into it too much.
