I was typing a cheerful, encouraging post about how there's nothing to be depressed about and how I'd be ecstatic if I could myself log bench 5x95 or what have you.

But I made the mistake of revisiting the OP of your log

But hey, let's look on the bright side of things, shall we - at least your presses are up!

Wow. Overall his total is down the last 4years. You would think by now it would be time to ditch the 5/3/1 and try something else.

Sounds like the same thing is going to happen to me. The lifts just going to keep slowly approaching zero. And then death.

Brutal. But beats looking like that new skinnyfat guy who posted pics.

Well, to be fair to snitcheroo, his injury list is quite comprehensive due to rugbyball shenanigans.

That said, snitch, time to move on to...

Spoiler:
...a bodybuilding split.

Yeah, I'm not even mad any more. Just going to keep doing stuff and not worry about where the numbers fall.

loco, to be fair to 5/3/1, it's not like I've actually done it for a few years. And yeah, I've "started again" about 10 times over the last few years. Such is life.

But I do still look like the new skinny fat guy.

Tuesday 4 November 2014

deadlift: 10x127.5
press: 8x55
pullup: 10, 9, 8
facepull: 3x10x17
cable external rotation: 2x15x3.4

bodyweight: 88.2kg

Bodyweight seems to be stabilizing around a disgusting 88kg.

Yeah its pretty standard though. I am not much different. My 1RMs aren't really significantly up in 4 years due to a lack of consistency, injuries, etc etc. Real life sucks!

Yep. I still credit the late mylesdyson for popularizing this H&F observation that the vast majority of your gains come in your first two years. After that the diminishing returns are so great that you are either just going to spin your wheels forever or you have to train really hard to creep forward. loco gets it. he trains hard and creeps forward. soulman gets it too. he doesn't train and just spins wheels.

It's very obvious when you write it down, but I still think most trainees expectations are very far from reality.

Yeah you have to be consistent as hell and work hard after the noob gains run out. That's why most people never get beyond the early intermediate stages. In fact a large amount never exhaust their beginner gains. I know guys benching 75kg or something been going to the gym 10 years. How its possible I dunno.

I was one of them. I probably benched close to 80kg for about 8 years prior to discovering H&F. It was all due to no programming, doing nothing but 12-10-8 type sets and trying to "max" every week.

I don't know. You don't look fat though. Abs coming to view and shelf forming. Indicators of maybe 20%, possibly lower. But I could be off if we include essential bodyfat (brain + bone marrow). Definitely not near 15% or 30%. Sorry, big range. Would need pic of ass for full diagnosis (could be Cottagecheeseville back there).

Yeah he has lost 2 kilos and looks like he lost 6. Just add Syndrom pecs = sweet physique.

But that's better said than done. Shoulder injuries + divebombing bench + lolvolume = good luck

The left side looks like it's from a pretty nice gym, and the right side is clearly, CLEARLY from your grandmother's davenport.

I've probably lost ~4kg in the last 2-3 months (pretty much fom 92.x to 88.x).

My pects always suck (see lolvolume - but I'm at least trying with incline db press now).

Pic taken in the showers at my work.

Buuuuuuuuuuut can't really complain about nice weather, nice beaches, good sports teams, gdp in the top 20, 6% unemployment and everyone earning six figures.

How's Ireland going?

I actually emigrated (as is my national birthright) to the land of the sheep shaggers.

Isn't he a Welsh rugby commentator?

And a Welsh rugby center?

And the singer from Korn?

Probably the prime minister of Wales?
