Put me down for a hundred!

...I don't even know how these weird ameritard odds work. I presume that means I'm like 95% favourite though?

Me and the coach are beginning to toy with the idea of a fight in February. I'm slightly interested in it...

Paging papa loco. This is your chance. I'm sure I could nominate you as my opponent. F*ck it. Come out here in the new year and train. I'll hook you up with my former coach and sparring partners who train out of another gym nearby. You'll never get better insight into your opponent. You can have a full camp. As a rank noob, you'll never get a better fight experience. Proper ring. Judges. Referee. Undercard fight on a low-level pro fight card. Booze soaked crowd. Dingy old tin shed gym.

Brisbane is nice. We've got casinos and literally sportsbooks on every corner. I'm sure a sharp advantage gamblor such as yourself could support yourself for a couple of months. I've even got a mate with an airbnb near that gym! He's even from the part of southern france where they speak mexican like you!

Not ready yet, but if you make same offer this summer I am in.

I need to setup shop in Mexico City for a little bit. Obviously want my boxing style to be Mexican and not Aussie.

You know what's funny, when I was in Mexico City my coach is a current pro. He asked if my father was Mexican and I said yes. He said you are halfway there and pointed to my heart.

Lol. I snickered inside a bit and then later quit on some pushup drills that killed me. Started doing push-ups on my knees, while skinny FATS where clearly still doing FULLROM.

This is going to be tough but the ultimate goal is fitness and solid self defense. This is the fastest way. I will be training harder than you. Longer than you. More commitment. And I will be much stronger upperbody at that weight. Will also have better cardio. . Not to mention the bigger heart. Not sure that will overcome a 15 month disadvantage in experience but winning is not as important as the effort I put in.

Make sure your wife knows she will be filming. I want to hear the gasp later when she sees papa loco get a good lick in there. At least one good lick. The ginger will shake his head and realize we got a fight on our hands!!!!!!!!! Viva Mexico cabrones!!! Corona vs Fosters (both equally horrible beers).

Strapped up for the last set of deads. So much easier. Could have done at least three more reps, probably more.

Then later... boxing class.

Gym had one of those body scan things in today.

87.6kg. 18.7%.

Chest 106cm. Abdomen 91cm.

Sounds legit.

A few weeks ago I was 86.6kg. Pre-Christmas 87.6kg. Post-Christmas 89.9kg. This is fine.

Deadlift with straps.

Did my first two sets of bench with no spot, but had a "feather touch all your bro two more reps" on the last set. Still. Two metric wheels back on the bar.

Chronic SALTS continues. At least my pullups got better (although not listed above) and I feel like that helped jacked out my lats, rhomboids and traps a little. Boxing probably improved a little although I am down on my peak cardio from last year. Might just sign up for a fight in early 2017 to force me to get that back.

Carrying a few niggles into 2017 (right elbow and right hip flexor/groin). Not looking good. Go on without me, H&F, save yourselves. We had a good run.
Time for some more reflection and self loathing.

2017

SALTS never lies to you. You can walk outside and listen to all kinds of talk, get told that you’re a god or a total bastard. SALTS will always kick you the real deal. SALTS is the great reference point, the all-knowing perspective giver. Always there like a beacon in the pitch black. I have found SALTS to be my greatest friend. It never freaks out on me, never runs. Friends may come and go. But two hundred pounds or less is always two hundred pounds or less.

Not many reps, but that passes a three amritard plate dead and a two ameritard plate bench for the first time in a while.

Wasn't really intending on testing 1RM or anything, but that press was as close to a 1RM as it gets.

Did the video. Not the best. Not the worst. Weight gets a bit forward, especially first rep. Lacking lats and glutes there I think. Slightly better on the 2nd rep. Both still a bit generally soft in the mid-back. More lats needed in general I think. Straps tho. Weight basically lifts itself.

Also, forgot to mention that I've been back at rugby training (just one more season!) for the last few weeks. So that's 2x week ~90 minutes games\skills\conditioning and have been doing less boxing.

Had our first contact session last week. The neck thing that was causing a lot of pain towards the end of last season is probably 9/10 recovered. I can still feel it, but minor pain so far.

The hip\groin thing is still the biggest ongoing issue (still pretty sure this is going to turn out to be a labral tear - but willing to be proved wrong).

I've also developed this weird knee pain. It started as lateral knee pain after doing a lot of bowling (cricket). I figured it was overuse type deal. Rested. Iced. Etc. Doesn't bother me day to day, strength seems fine, running and changing direction is fine, but now, whenever I land on that knee (i.e. falling\tackling\etc, sliding in the field in cricket) I get a really sharp\intense pain that is like 7/10 pain, but subsides quite quickly if I keep moving the knee...

Summary: Going to die.

Had a week off for various reasons. Went a bit lighter. Bit more volume. Was fun.

Also, my chinups are generally done as many sets of few reps supersetted across my workout. Got 18 sets in today for 54 reps which is probably a recent history chinup pr.

Also ran a timed 1200m at rugby training tonight. So that was weird. Not least of all because it was run as five sets of 20m, 40m, 60m shuttles.

Spoiler:

5:27

Seemed ok. Especially considering I've had literally the worst preparation possible given that I've been on a three day end of cricket season bender to the tune of about 30 beers, various spirits, about 30 cigarettes, weed, 5k+ daily calories including mounds of chips, not a hint of a plant substance (ok, there may have been a token salad in a pub meal), very limited sleep, and all that resulting in me coming down with some kind of cold\sore throat\etc.

So with that in mind, I'm sure I can improve on that with out too much work. I wonder if I can get it to 5:00... sounds hard.

Did some baxin' too.

The pro crew were doing some technical sparring stuff. One of the guys was supposed to be on his rest day so coach pulled me in so he could sit out. Was fun as sh*t. Dude I was against was probably a couple of inches shorter and 10kg or more lighter than me. So I held together ok in the drills we were doing, but he obviously just tagged me all over the place. Still fun. Doing sparring stuff against someone way better than you is always enlightening.
