Kirby,

Buy 16 oz. Glove to practice with. Good to add some extra weight to protect your hands.

Most importantly, go to the boxing gym you dink. Only going to learn so much from youtube and Phresh dissertations. Your friend you're betting with is probably at a gym, and you trying to learn to fight on the internet with a heavy bag at 24 fitness

Can I get some side action on your opponent?

Really though it's probably nothing like you think. Nobodies gonna judge you, people are actually really nice and helpful from my experiences. Everyone was a beginner at one point. They won't even let you spar until you put in a few months training, so don't gotta worry about getting beat up lol. It's actually always been a relaxed fun environment with everyone trying to get better and help each other. After awhile you go out cracking cold ones with the boys.

Gym wouldn't stay in business if it treated new comers badly.

you'd lose, so, sure.

Your friend is a coward for challenging a retired old man like you.
10-24-2017 , 02:43 AM
they'll think im a young buck who doesnt look 20 when im about to be 30

Just don't sparr with Charlie Zelenoff.

The Superman punch just hit the NHL courtesy of Kevin Bieksa.

10-24-2017 , 08:25 PM
The mechanics of that seem really hard on ice skates. Well done. I'd love to see a camera angle on how the punch lands.
10-24-2017 , 08:32 PM
your knee is also obstructed
10-24-2017 , 09:08 PM
Does hockey have a concussion problem?
10-24-2017 , 09:10 PM
:28 couple different angles, damn it landed better than i thought lol

yeah but not really because of fights more because of checks that bounce the head

The "goons" fighting (there arent many left anymore) do havemuch more serious long term damage though. Its even worse in the leagues right below the NHL, where the toughest guys try to make names and fight very often

slow ponied but yeah...

Lands pure and with pretty much textbook form if you consider a superman punch on skates is like attempting one in 4" of quicksand. Also not the first time he's done it apparently.

wait what the **** i just learned youre not supposed to clench your fists except right before the punching impact.

i was permanently clenching (even with hands up and moving, etc.)

this changes everything o_o (yes, yes mma gym tomorow !)

You've been warned.

Also, wait, MMA gym? I thought you guys were boxing? If you're boxing, an MMA gym is probably going to do more harm than good. MMA punching form is, for people not named Garbrandt, dog****. I know you're a rookie and any help is probably better than none, but if your opponent has any training/experience you're going to be wide open to him.

Related, and because I love this gif, ****ty form leads to easy defense:

So you're retired at 28ish? **** dude, just hire Freddie Roach for a few months, you'll murder this guy
10-25-2017 , 04:32 PM
dawg, i dont see anything about clenched fists in those posts

re: the gym
its a gym with muy thai, boxing, jiujitsu gym with each getting like 30% of "trainer time" during each day, and the rest being free solo training with their equipment

it seems pretty terrible overall tbh.

ps: i gotta be honest im having doubts about doing this boxing thing at all, weighing the pros and cons, decent chance of getting long term damage to the hands when theres literally nothing I like to do that doesnt use hands might not be worth it for a year or two of excitement. really made me think when i watched a video of freddie roach saying if you dont think you there's a chance you can be world champion you shouldnt be boxing it's not worth it, lol. friend is also flaking so not feeling too terrible about it.

Should def drop the whole boxing thing and do BJJ. Less CTE more ossss.

217 is 2 weeks away, what'cha cans thoughts on the match ups?

I think sadly Bisping beats GSP. Size + TDD will prevent him from getting wrestle fooked imo. Plus GSP didn't look the same after his first knee injury, and since retirement he's had a 2nd. Plus rusty AF. I expect it to be boring either way.

Think Garb is rightfully the favorite, but TJ is a beast and hoping for him to pull it off. I'm still sticking to Cody having a huge advantage on Cruz in training due to extremely little footage of him, against TAM having like 5 years & multiple opponents of experience against Cruz.

I think Wonderboy beats Masvidal, but as usual with Jorge it'll be a close lol.

Gonna be hilarious to see pig rig get clobbered by another massive MW

boxing is so much more fun than bjj to me though .

I really hope GSP wins, im not sure i can live in a world where bisping brags about being the greatest of all time

In what context? Maybe he meant money/career-wise?
