Redbreast 12 year old (Ireland) 1 of my favorite ireland whiskies a must try
Penderyn Port Wood (Wales) fruity, vanilla, cherry in the finish, short aftertaste
Yamazaki 12 year old (Japan) light, floral, fruity some nuts,i liked it
Eagle Rare 10 year old (USA) enough reviews about that whisky in this threat.

had a ardbeg supernova with a steak there too.
allways great to have a smoke bomb with steak

Thanks for the information, but unfortunately the 10% only apply to orders over 1000 euros. 500€+ = 5% and 300€+ = 3%

I wanted to order a few whiskeys, so I might still take advantage of the discount.

just got another order and opened it since i`m done with work for today
since the Bunnahabhain Darach Ur is 1 of my favorite bourbon cask non smoky whiskies(in his price range)
i thought i will try their smoke bomb too.
Bunnahabhain Toiteach 46%:

nose:alot of campfire smoke, gras with seaweed only hints of fruit
taste:smoke than seaweed with pepper
aftertaste:long, sea(bit salty), seaweed, oak(i`m surprised since it has no age statement)hints of vanilla.

u can really tell that the bunnahabhain distillery is next to the sea.
with all the sea aromas in this whisky.

not bad at all,but i prefer the distilleries on the south side of islay(ardbeg, lagavulin&laphroaig) for my smokebombs.

i`m done with work today early again,so i thought i will do another review.

Bunnahabhain Darach Ur 46,3% 1 liter

this whisky comes out of first fill bourbon casks.natural colour and non chillfiltered.

nose:vanilla,some seaweed,some spices,some sweets
taste:sweet,some oak,some citrus,nuts&spices
aftertaste:long,vanilla with caramel,some cinnamon&spices

i really like this whisky and around 40 euro for 1 liter u get a great bang for your buck.
but beware even so it has no smoke its still a islay whisky,so it has more power than the average speysider .

All about that Jack...

On a side note my dad owns a bottle of this

I know it's a Scotch... but it's also the 3rd most expensive Scotch in the world. Maybe he'll pass it down to me so I can make 25 large off of it.

25 large?

3. The Macallan 1926 Fine and Rare
Price: $75,000

It is rumored that a South Korean businessman paid $75,000 in 2005 for the chance to own a bottle of this scotch, whose flavor is described as dry and concentrated. The rumor is later confirmed by Macallan themselves.

It's real he's had it for 25+ years. Someone owed him like $5000. He got it verified or whatever it's called.

In response to the page I got the picture off of, it's been rumored that a bottle got sold to a Japanese businessman for 75k, but the ones that have sold at auction in the US haven't sold for much over 25k. Pretty sure the last one at auction sold for like $29,000 or something like that.

Didn't read that Macallan confirmed that rumor, anyways like I said ones at auction don't sell for that much in the US, maybe if I get it I'll try a Japanese auction or something.

In the last couple of weeks I got a chance to try a few new Scotches. I was traveling and drinking them mostly in parties so I wasn't really thinking about tasting them properly, but here are a few notes from what I remember.

It all started on the plane where the only thing they had was johnny Walker red, so I said what the hell, pour me some of ir neat. BIG MISTAKE. The nose: repugnant, the taste: like vinager, the finish: haunted me for hours. Never again I order it.

Then I downed over half a bottle of glenlivet 18 at a party. I'm not a big fan of the glenlivet 12 because I feel it lacks flavor. The 18 is more of the same. Tame nose, a bit fruity but not complex. Better than the 12 but nothing to write home about.

After that I had the johnny Walker gold label reserve, which I got at the duty free for something like $50. I don't remember much about this one really because we drank it from 10am to 4pm or so (college buddies reunion). I do remember it was smooth and ok tasting. My friends told me that they preferred it to the glenlivet, which we drank a second bottle the next day. However, they're more used to drinking blends than single malts and drank everything on the rocks and/or with water, so take it fwiw.

The last whisky of the trip was the chivas regal 18. I opened the bottle and smelled it and the first thing that came to mind was "speyside!". I don't know if they get most of their malts from there but that's what it reminded me of. I don't remember much else about it but it was also the third day of continuous drinking so my taste buds were not all there.

Tonight I had the bowmore 12 at a bar. I noticed the not-too-overwhelming peat and the sweetness of its taste. I assume this one is matured in sherry casks or similar.

Finally, when I got home tonight I opened a bottle of ardbeg Uigeadail. I could smell the smoke from a distance! The nose was peaty but not overwhelmingly so. As it came in the tongue I tasted no sweetness, and a little bitterness at the end. It has a long finish too, albeit a very dry one. My mouth felt like I was chewing chipped wood. It felt strong too so I added a bit of water to it. The taste got a bit better with the water, not so bitter and not so dry at the end. I feel like I liked this one better the first time I tried it.

That's all folks!

went to my favourite home town whisky bar yesterday and they had a
ochtomore 6.01 61% 167ppm

since it is said, that it is the atomic bomb of all smoke bombs i
had to try it
first nose without water i was surprised not that smoky.
but after putting a splash of water in and letting it rest for some minutes the smoke hit me like a cannon ball.
took the first sip and i had a smoke explosion in my mouth.
after swallowing it about 20 seconds later a afterburn came that i never experienced before
was still too strong for me and i added 1 more splash of water(guess i was around 52-55% now)and let it rest some more.
now i could taste after all the smoke some sea aromas(seaweed+salt)
and the afterburner was far less.
was a interesting experience if u ever see it in a bar and u like smoky whiskies give it a try but its super rare to find 1.

Mann,

I have had a bunch of different octomores and like them, but even for me they are a little too much.

Does anyone find that they crave whisky when they see someone drink whisky on TV? I crave whisky and pizza, but nothing else.

Whenever someone drinks on TV, I want to drink as well.
Mad Men is terrible for this.

For food, The Sopranos is by far the worst, they eat in 2 out of 3 scenes.

One of the main reasons I bought Macallan 12 was because Maeby ordered it in Arrested Development. Granted, I was JUST starting to take up whisky at that time. Everyone shoud get a bottle just because it's f***ing delicious
