laphroaig 18: 48%
i tried it before, just to be sure.
nose:smoke but less than the 10 year old, caramell, some fruits, spices, some seaweed
taste:sparkling,cask,spices only some smoke,vanilla,some sweets
aftertaste:semilong to long, oily, now the smoke is here with spices.
for me this is the point were the premium whiskies of islay start.
it has so much more compexity than the 2 others i reviewed before but still alot of smoke in the aftertaste.
here in europe its 55-65 euro so not bad
laphroaig 25: 48,6%(we had the old high proof version)
this whisky is a vatted malt.it comes out of oloroso sherry butts some fino sherry buts and bourbon casks.
nose:it starts with sherry gets fruity with marzipan and then the phenolic smoke with the smell of the sea kicks in.
taste:sparkling, first dry then fruity(rosted apples),spices, seaweed, spices and all over it there is smoke.
aftertaste:long, warm, spices, seaweed, some vanilla and then the smoke comes up again.
this is a really great islay whisky with so many flavours.i
it.
this was the 2nd best whisky i had on the islay trip.
only thing i don`t like is the price
since it is very rare u pay around300 euros in europe for the 40% version
