LAP,

I really enjoyed the first and second edition boss hog, but the third edition was so overoaked it was undrinkable. The finish on this version sounds much better, hope it lives up to the reviews!

Nit,

K&l has four barrels of cask strength 10yo whistlepig. This sounds pretty good for $90: http://m.klwines.com/p/i?i=1335318

Yes I've had the WP 10yr store picks, solid stuff. The pricing in Houston is a little more interesting. They go for $70 usually and I was able to score on for $55 at one of the better locals. Good Canadian rye. I'm really interested in a new Lot 40 Canadian rye that 12yrs old and supposed to be barrel proof and $70CAD. Any of 2+2 Whisky lovers with access to a LCBo or providence equivalent hook a brother up.

Also really lucky today at a local raffle and got this Handy for not much more than the K&L exclusive you posted.

Whiskey value buyers,

K&L currently has 62% barrel strength Bulleit for $30. Not sure if I believe them, but they claim it’s a limited one-time special price.

I can’t keep up with all this stuff, haven’t even tried Kentucky owl. FYI, K&L currently has Kentucky owl 11yo rye in stock for $140.

Blink-and-You'll-Miss-It Whiskey Allocation
Kentucky Owl 11 Year Old Rye Whiskey (750ml) ($139.99)

The last parcel we got in of the Kentucky Owl 11 Year Rye sold through in a matter of minutues. Much to our delight (and whiskey drinkers everywhere), we were able to secure some more. Whether you missed out the first time around, or we're looking to get more, now is the time to act!

Right to the chase here - this is a special insiders' alert about a crazy deal that fell into our lap this morning: a parcel of the insanely limited Kentucky Owl 11 Year Old Kentucky Rye Whiskey, bottled at 55.3%, and previously so rare that most stores only got a case or two. Our initial 60 bottle allocation sold out in about twenty minutes after a flurry of customers gobbled up every last bottle, even with a one bottle limit per customer. With something like this you might want to come back and read the rest after after you get your bottles...otherwise it might be gone by then.

Kentucky Owl is a project recently acquired by Stoli Vodka, but what's in the bottle is put together from mature stocks of Kentucky whiskey that has already seen black market prices of up to $800 a bottle for some of the initial Bourbon releases. We’re were incredibly lucky to land a reasonable allocation of this rye whiskey and there's no doubt what's left won't last the day. We’ve tasted the rye and it’s legit. It’s rich, and spicy, and full of sweet baking spices like clove and cinnamon on the finish with power from the high proof. Anyone in search of a special gift or collectible bottle will be more than thrilled with the quality, especially in today’s market. Live on the site for now, the rest of our allocation arrives next week.

Ha I always told myself if I ever got a 23yr which seems to show up more often in local raffles than the 15, I’d trade it for a 15yr+ the secondary difference in cash or other bottles.

first off - buy for $140 - no brainer.

yeah tbh I wasn't even blown away by KO rye - although I really liked it a lot. WHen I said it as "best whiskey as 2017" I shoulda put a ? after it because I meant it as more of a suggestion as what my guess of the consensus would be rather than what my vote is. I'd buy it as a choice for best of 2017, though.

There's been a lot of reverberation against EHT 4 grain as whiskey of the year just because Jim Murray picked it. To be honest, I get it, and I really think it is warranted. I love it, I think it is a fantastic pour.

For me, my top 3, in order probably are:

1. Rebel Yell single barrel
2. EHT 4 grain
3. Kentucky Owl Rye

honorable mention: Peerless Rye. It's expensive at $120 but for a 2 year aged, it's really really good.

Also rounding out the top 5 I'd put michters barrel toasted rye.

Judge Holdem I’m a big fan of Rebel Yell 10yr. I’m on my third bottle and have a couple more stored away. However I don’t if I’d count it as they did a 2016 release.

I’m weary of any of the Kentucky Owl products seems a like a lot of money for mystery whiskey. The rye intrigues me can’t think of any 10+ yr Kentucky rye on the market other than Sazerac 18. Still not worth it for me.

I ordered the 4G at a bar that had it as the same price of regular EHT small batch. However I think they intentionally or accidentally gave me small batch. At least I hope they did, otherwise it’s way overrated.

i haven´t bought much whisky lately but when my local supermarket had a 2017 clearance sale i couldn´t resist.
I´m such a cheap Charly but €90 for 3 single malts isn´t bad in my eyes...

I think it’s supposed to retail for $250. The problem is it’s impossible to find and is usually found on the secondary market for over $1000.

Good work! I am not a Lag 16 fan but it gets lots of love. Never had Glendronach 12 but lots of other ones at Whisky Fringes. Good finishes and singles, solid distillery.
