I've been trying to finish most bottles that only had 1/4 or so remaining, and probably got rid of about 10 bottles that way. However, friends and coworkers gave me 6 new bottles for my birthday, which is not helping the case. Clearly they know me too well.
Most of the bottles were in the "daily driver" category, but luckily for me they are good ones I had already ran out of: Bunna 12, Balvenie 12 doublewood, Laphroaig 10, Glenfiddich 15.
A friend went all out and got me a Glenfiddich 21. Not something that I would have picked myself, but a very nice gesture from him.
I really like the Lagavulin DE, but probably agree that it's not worth the premium, specially now that the bottle is $100+. I think I bought it for $80 over a year ago. At that price it was a good buy imo.
Yeah, that's why I was asking lol. Still though, a $15 price difference between the DE and the 16 back then is still nuts. DE goes for $110 at KL. Idk how I've managed to be into whisky this long and haven't bought it yet, I love Lag
Early this year I found out k&l was losing their SF location lease, which sucked because they are three blocks away from me. Then a couple months ago I found out they finalized the lease on their new SF location which is way bigger and only a block and a half from me. Prob not good for my wallet...
Horst Luening is pretty funny. Some of his sound effects are hilarious, specially when he tastes an outstanding bottle. See this one at the 10 or 11 minute mark.
