great that u like it!
nowadays those are too boring to me.
give a Highlandpark 12y or a Old Pulteney 12y a chance now.
both a bit more complex with some peat.
just try it in a bar u could like it....
if it is too much for u,u could try a Balvenie double wood
or a Glenlivet 15y both nice Speysiders aswell.
welcome to the journey of single malts!
and before u buy another blue label we have a ton of recommendations in this threat
that are more worthy at a cheaper rate

I love "Promise of Hope", so good for how young it is. I'm sitting on one bottle now, I wish I could find more.

I really enjoy it too. About $175ish on secondary market.

Jack rose is a great bar. Should get down there more often

1792 Sweet Wheat is the new WL Weller apparently. Plus it is best tasted neat (i.e. no water) according to the distillery. I wanna try it but it's pretty hard to find, kl doesn't even sell it

Got my birthday presents a little early this year.

Highland Park 25: not much to say about this, tried an earlier version years ago, was awesome. Can't wait to try it in a few weeks!

Kilkerran WIP Cask Strength Bourbon: this bottle is receiving high praise lately, and was sold out a couple of days after I pulled the trigger.

Glendronach 15: the now discontinued delicious sherry bomb. Although there's still a lot of bottles in the market I wanted to grab one before they disappear.

I got the Glendronach 15 early '13 after watching this:

Still haven't opened it though...I'm such a hoarder lol. Lmk how you like it

The Glendronach 15 is awesome if you like sherry bombs. I've gone through a bottle already and will probably save this one for later, as it will be discontinued until 2018 due to a stock shortage.

Glendronach has been short of stock for a while for their 15, 18, and 21 year old whiskies, and it seems like what you get with the 15 is a much older whisky.

u will the Kilkerran!
sadly the sherry version isn´t up to par for me yet even so it´s less harsh than it´s predecessors.
haven´t had the HP 25y for a while
it got too expansive for me

The HP25 didn't come cheap, but I'm celebrating 40 years of being around so I figured I could splurge a little bit

Thanks for the link. I guess that's the reason I hoard some bottles of whisky, I'm worried I'll love it and something like the bottle being discontinued will make me hate everything lol. It makes me want to buy another bottle before opening my current one.

Also, I got an email from kl about an hour ago saying they had a bottle of single barrel Weller Antique but the link the email provided showed the bottle being unavailable. I call kl and it turns out that they already sold the entire allotment lol. I know whisky is popular, but to sell out within an hour of being on sale is pretty crazy

Nice haul.

Whiskybase shipping rates are great, but it does take forever for packages to get here. In contrast, I ordered my bottles from MoM on Monday morning and they arrived on Thursday(!). Shipping+customs was $110 for three bottles, unfortunately.

havent pulled the trigger yet, dreading the 2 month wait. MoM is great on shipping times but costs are high(ish)

you got popped for customs on your whiskeybase order?
Whisky Quote

No customs from whiskybase, but I've always kept my orders there under $200 because I think otherwise the post office needs to collect custom charges. Not 100% sure about that, but when I ordered from whiskybase it's "only" been about 3 weeks for packages to get here, not 2 months.

Picked this up in Reno last weekend for $100. Bens has much better stuff than total wine in Sacramento area. Although the last bottle of 8 year old I got at bevmo was $70... 2 years ago

Went in to the local whiskey shop and was recommended this by the owner who was more than happy to tell me that what I wanted to spend was too much and I should get this instead.

Was for one of my friends who officiated my wedding. Incredibly tasty, even for someone like me who isn't a fan of drinking neat.

The stagg jr is hot. 132 proof it smells like the burn. The taste is an oak bomb with spices. Adding some water brings out the sweet more. Good stuff I threw a little in some diet coke and my girl wanted to steal it.

A friend had a bottle of Kilkerrin, that was until I showed up, and it's fantastic. He told me next time he'll open his bottle of Caol Ila 25. I am excite.

i wanna get a friend a bunch of whisky (maybe like $500-1000 worth, 5-6 bottles?) for his bday coming up. i'd like to get some awesome/obscure/unique/storyworthy stuff. i think ideally i'd just ship it to him in canada, though im not really sure how that would work (i could also just bring it to him next time i see him probably, but i'd still have the likely issue[?] of taking it into the country/having to travel with it. i'll be in parts of southern europe in the fall if there's anything awesome i should get from there.

super noob post, i know nothing about any of these things and appreciate any advice-- seemed better to post here than to google "how do i ship expensive alcohol to canada? can i even do it?!? what the hell should i buy?!?!?!"
