Interesting. Not really a fan of it at all and plan to use it exclusively for Old Fashioneds and other cocktails. Admittedly, I'm pretty much a beginner.

Nice collection! I'm going to pick up some Michters when I start watching season 5 of Billions. They were always drinking it in s4.

I’d definitely take that Russell Reserve single barrel rye over Blanton’s. I gifted my last bottle to my Russian coworker and only keep the straight from barrel around the house these days that I pick up in France.

Like for instance I found J.W. Dant bottled in bond in a plastic 1.75L jug today and was more excited than if I found a bottle of Weller 12. I’ve been looking for years and it’s $16 for a handle. Solid stuff.

Currently enjoying a couple of my favs with a cigar on a humid Texas night.

I really enjoy Michters, have a case ( 3 bottles ) of the 10 yr old bourbon and Toasted Barrel on order. I doubt I will ever do the 20 or 25 year old, just can't justify spending that kind of money.

Looks like we at least have similar tastes in cigars, as Hemingway's are probably my favorite.

Regular Buffalo Trace is my normal everyday drink. Have been accumulating more of the higher end stuff because I buy it whenever it is available here (because it rarely is, and goes quick), and because of the way things have been, I haven't had anyone over to share it in quite some time.

Yeah I’m somewhat of an oddball I hate barrel finishes and have become not a big fan of stuff like Blanton’s. I really think anyone that’s a bourbon fan should give the Bottled In Bond bottom shelf a try. That or any bottom shelf straight bourbon that’s above 86 proof.

The Hemingway was good but I have some Oliva Masters Blend 3 that one of the big online sites sells for $3.50 a pop that I enjoy more.

Oh I decanted most of this plastic handle of JW Dant into some empty bottles I had lying around and used it to deglaze a skillet of mushrooms and onions on the grill along with some steak. Decided to have a pour with a cigar and wow this is nice. Lots of brown sugar. Kind of reminds of a good store pick of Knob Creek single barrel 120 proof that are usually 10-15 years old. Definitely punches well above it’s price range. It’ll be a regular on my shelf going forward.

When those calls never end. Pulled out some Weller 12 year old. The chocolate and oak goes well with a cigar. Pretty good for under $40.

Nice. Can't find any Weller near me and been wanting to try. I see one place on Drizly that has Weller 12 for $208...

Finally drove out to Total Wine and picked up some Green Spot due to the whole world raving about it. Really didn't like the first pour I had, found it really peppery/grassy and not much else. Had another pour the other day and it was much much better with fruity/creamy notes. I guess neck pour is a real thing. I'd say I still prefer a Speyside when I'm in the mood for that sort of thing overall, but I was never really an Irish fan.

Yeah Green Spot is ok but I think I’d personally would grab Redbreast 12 or Power’s John’s Lane if I was in the market for a Irish pot still. I agree for the price I’d rather get a decent Scottish single malt. While Irish stuff is good I find Scotch and even bourbon more complex and to my liking.

The W12 is good for what it is but it’s not a $208 or even $100 whiskey. The regular Weller’s is very common any liquor store with bourbon in Texas will have it and it goes for under $25 a bottle. The W12 shouldn’t be more than $50 but yeah has become impossible to find.

^Some interesting stuff up there. Let us know what you think. I’m not a Balvenie fan but the rum cask intrigues me.

I’m really digging this Ardbeg Wee Beastie, it’s a steal for $35. It seems the younger peated stuff brings out a lot more of the best which I really like. I’m thinking this would pair well with some strong cheese or oysters.

Also find Ledaig as such a sleeper, really good for the price. Non chill filtered, over 90 proof, age stated at 10 years and like $50. Why anyone would buy other Islay whisky like Bowmore which is crap makes no sense.

This bottle of MGP rye, aged for 13 years, single barrel bottled at barrel proof 121.5 proof is some the best whiskey I’ve ever had and sadly it’s gone. I still have a sister barrel bottle of this hidden.

The Black Diamond Fuente tobacco Maduro goes quite well with it.

Bought this sampler of single malts online for like $44, even with shipping was like $10 cheaper than anyplace local. I’m somewhat of a noob when it comes to Scotch but think I would take the Ledaig over the Talisker 10 or Laguvulin 16 after the first tasting but will revisit. I actually was surprised how much I liked the Cragganmore. Would love to try it at 90+ proof and without coloring and unfiltered.

Nice curious how that Parker rye comes out, let us know when you open it.

Also curious if the 12 and 15 KC are worth it.

Oh, lol...I misread your post. You meant are the knob Creek 12 and 15 worth it.

Saw "12" and just assumed the Weller

Yeah I’m in Texas, Weller country, the KC 12 and 15 are more interesting to me.

Damn you guys. I'll find some (decently priced) Weller one day.

I don't really enjoy rye or the rye taste and I find Maker's sort of 'smooth' and very drinkable due to its absence. Any other decent wheated bourbons out there from the big brands? Maybe I should try some Maker's 46.

The Weller was the cheapest bottle of the bunch, $43 + tax.
I haven't opened the Knob Creek yet. I have heard pretty good things about the 12 yr. old, which is moderately priced. I am guessing the 15 yr (and Parker's) is overpriced, but I like to splurge on really limited releases.

Larceny is probably the most common, and a really good value bourbon. I believe Wyoming Whiskey is also wheated, but I haven't tried that yet.
