Yup, the Euro strengthening against the dollar is wiping most of the savings away. Except when you find bottles that cost 60% of what they do in the US (like the Kavalan Solist).

I don't know if I mentioned this but my best find as of late has been a Costco bottle of sherry-finished 18-yo Speyside single malt for like $60. First time buying one of their bottles and I'm going back for more this weekend.

You'll also need to arrange to get them to me in Texas. I guess I can help you get rid of the stuff. To be honest not really interested in the Blanton's or Weller. Also the Pappy 23 is way over oaked do you have the 15 or 20?
Lol negative sir about 1700 for pappy

Tbh,

Most states you don’t need a Costco card to buy alcohol at Costco. Or prescriptions.

$1700 actually seems relatively low for PVW23. I think it's pretty consistently going for over $4K. People have lost there minds.

I'd buy it at or close to retail just for the the resale/trade value. If there wasn't a crazy secondary market for this I don't see myself buying this at $250 for my own consumption.

Few bottles I've acquired at work recently and 1.5 oz pour price:

Stagg $15
Elmer T Lee $15
Elijah Craig 18yr $25
Parker's Heritage 11yr $22
Ardbeg Twenty-Something $27
Little Book $13

Don't the ardbeg as a breakeven bottle cuz it won't sell otherwise.

Squash,

Nice deal on the Stagg!

What do you think of the ardbeg twenty something?

I would have to say yes. A bottle at 1.5oz pours yields 16 pours. That's only $240 for the bottle. This year's Stagg has a larger allotment but not that large. Secondary is still around $400.

I recently went by a well regarded steakhouse in Houston. Started with a W12 pour and then saw BTAC WLW behind bar. Asked the bartender how much, and it took him a few tries to read the label and he tried to look it up in the system without success. Then he randomly pours a little into a glass for me and says, "here try it". I was like wtf. Then he says I'll charge you $12 for it like the price of our W12. I was like look man that's a very expensive bottle I do not want to get you in trouble. And that I will only order 1 pour if that is the case. Then about halfway through drinking it he says he realizes it should be $62 a pour now, but he's only going to charge me $12. I threw him a very decent tip to make up some of it to make getting in trouble a little less of an issue if he does.

So yeah, I got to try BTAC WLW at a bar for $12 (plus a pretty decent tip, we'll say an extra $25 over what I should have tipped him for the total bill). Good times.

Judge you're in Houston and you don't have a stash of W12? I don't tend to drink it when I'm out as it's become a daily drinker at home.

If you are downtown the Reserve 101 has a huge selection of Whisk(e)y and Scotch.

I finally bought Glenmorangie Signet today. Just tried a glass in a glencairn glass with about a half teaspoon of spring water. I read previous reviews on here not too impressed by it or maybe it was not too impressed per the price. I personally give it somewhere between 95-97/100. This stuff is different, smells so good, and tastes incredible for my palate.

I’m far from the best at describing what I smell and taste in scotch, but on the nose I was mainly smelling spice and vanilla, and other stuff I can’t really desribe well enough and on the palate I tasted plenty of spice at first followed by like a scotch milk chocolate flavor, oranges, and spice on the finish and after taste. There was definitely more but unfortunately that’s about as good as my nose/palate can do at offering anything in detail. I highly recommend it, and it’s very different from any kind of scotch I’ve had.

So tempting to keep drinking it, but one pour was like nectar of the Gods for me. I’ll probably put it away for special occassions worth celebrating.

Definitely want some more ETL, only have two. Can find Blanton's pretty easy but rarely see Rock Hill and never at actual retail. Heck I even have the Hanncock's.
