Lot of rumblings that Mousasi has signed with Bellator
07-10-2017 , 02:08 PM
That kind of sucks. Who is there for him at 185 at Bellator? He was peaking too. Money talks though good luck to him. Guess he could fight LHW there.

Keeping costs down must be a huge deal for WME right now. Crazy how much good talent they're letting go to Bellator. Really sucks, Mousasi vs Rockhold, Whittaker, Romero were all great fights.

Their business model can not compete with Bellator. Forsaking the sponsorship money for what Reebok is paying them is suicidal.

UFC lost all their biggest stars either temporarily or permanently. Imagine what would happen if Conor signed with bellator? RiP

According to FightMatrix, UFC & Bellator have the following number of top 10 fighters in each men's division.

HW:

UFC: 10
Bellator : 0

LHW:
UFC: 7
Bellator : 3

MW:
UFC: 9
Bellator : 1

WW:
UFC: 9
Bellator : 1

LW:
UFC: 8
Bellator : 2

FW:
UFC: 8
Bellator : 2

BW:
UFC: 8
Bellator : 2

FLW:
UFC: 9
Bellator : 0

In addition the UFC has the top two fighters in every weight class (Bader, Mousasi are ranked #3 as is Horiguchi (Rizin)

Plus the USADA regulations are a crazy commitment for any fighter, along with the chance of you getting suspended even without doing anything wrong.

While it doesn't change your point, you should never use fightmatrix rankings. For example their WW top 10 include Nate Diaz #9, RDA #6, Magny #10. Meanwhile Rory & Larkin are both outside the top 10 lol.

WW should be like 7-3.

But it wasn't that long ago Bellator had like 1 or 2 top 10 fighters. If things continue going down this path they could be pretty close in a few divisions at least. I think WME doesn't really care about having the best fighters, they care about having the most marketable fighters.

Also Mousassy confirmed he signed 6 fight deal with Bellator on MMA hour.

Bellator likely to scoop up Askren too I'd imagine

It didn't even seem possible for Bellator to ever compete until UFC signed the Reebok deal and sold. Maybe a bigger TV deal with change things.

Don't see them getting the TV deal they are dreaming for. Conor retiring soon def won't help either....WME/UFC hasn't exactly been cranking out new PPV selling stars. JG helps but unless JBJ, GSP return to fold I'm not sure how often they will be ringing up 800k+ PPV events.

Askren vs Rory or that kokeshov guy would be pretty awesome. All of the future Rory fights look awesome.

Askren already destroyed Korashkov, would be interesting vs Rory though.

I'm starting to buy the theory that Fertitta's brothers intentionally made the Reebok deal terrible to hamstring the UFC after sale so they could buy it back in a few years. And then I think Dana is a mole. I don't has as much context on Dana's management pre-sale but it seems almost intentionally bad now trashing assets like Nunes.

I still don't believe Dana naively thought Rhonda was going to roll Nunes like the rest of WME was reported to have been thinking given he how he talked about originally making the Holm fight.

Yeah, I'm all for a fun co piracy but that part d oesnt scan. Dana is a terrible promoter in terms of building a fighter. He's the GOAT in depressing their value tho

Not to mention wasn't the Reebok deal 2+ years before talks of the sale even began? This is just WME being cans and not seeing the huge problem with it.

May/Mac presser tour starts today and goes for 3 days.

When keeping it real goes wrong.

Heard the presser was actually pretty garbage

why is ariel helwani on such bad terms w ufc nowadays?
07-12-2017 , 01:08 AM
He's broken huge stories they wanted to break during events or press conferences.

I thought he was conors boy tho so seems a bit strange. Would be hilarious if conor punked the ufc and demanded a riel back.

Dana White doesn't like him.

Supposedly it was Dana who asked for it and got him removed from Showtime. I highly doubt Ari Emanuel and the other WME suits give a **** about banning Ariel from stuff.

The UFC really needs him to go. The guy now has two freaking shows branded around himself, and they both are ****ty.

It goes a bit more into it here

https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mma-c...28404-mma.html

The "official" story is that they were pissed off with him for breaking so many stories before they had a chance to announce them (like the Lesnar return for 200), but there's also probably of how high profile he is, and hasn't always been on their side with his takes on things.

He was also roughed up backstage by Dana's goons one time, so there's that....

Didn't watch myself but have seen highlights and seemed like a **** show.

Conor did a q&a with media after and Mayweather Sr was in the crowd and that was pretty entertaining.
