Fighters seem to get injured day of/day before in MMA significantly more often than in boxing. Any idea why?

they are at a calorie deficit days/weeks before the fight which culminates with a day or two of not drinking any water and sweating out 5+ lbs. you're also travelling at the same time, possibly to a new state/country/continent. must be very damaging to the immune system!

Live World Boxing Super Series Draw. Fighters getting to pick their opponents is pretty cool.

'Reem doing his best Roy Jones

I just don't understand how a 40 year old dude looks like that. Well... I do but I'm not sure how he's getting away with it.

Man, this Jon/DC promo is legit. Also, my favorite reddit comment on the Pettis fight, regarding Jim Miller copy-catting Pettis' flashy kicks:

Wow, that DC/Bones promo was ****ing ridiculous.

I hate manufactured drama which we see way too often but I do appreciate when there is legit beef. Should be very interesting - Jones did not look like himself at all in the OSP fight. Cormier would make short work of that Jones.

Bobby Knuckles walking out to some Roy Jones Jr **** has me firmly on his side.

Jesus whittaker TDD is so good. Especially for a coming up from WW.

Romero looking like he's gassing.
07-09-2017 , 12:51 AM
2-1 Romero but he's fading fast.

Great fight

Whittaker beats Romero after ****ing up his knee in the first round. Bisping has no chance. Dude seems like a jolly mother****er, too. Bisping rocks his lame act to hype the fight and throws down his belt. Whitakker says "...can I keep that?"
07-09-2017 , 01:16 AM
Yep, Bisping's "reign" about to come to an end. Never beat a top 10 fighter until he caught Rockhold. Any guesses on the line for Bisping/Whittaker? I don't bet sports often but would Whittaker -220 be unreasonable?
07-09-2017 , 12:13 PM
Whittakers leaping left hook catches Bisping early. 1st round finish imo.

Dude came out of nowhere at beat the #6, #2, and #1 MWs in the world. Love his style.

I don't know about a 1st round finish, but I basically agree. His feints and lateral movement are slick as hell. It's funny that the interrim champ is pretty clearly the top guy in the division. Bisping is essentially going to come into the unification bout as the challenger.

EDIT:

Just saw this on sherdog. Ariel asks some terrible questions every now and again:

https://youtu.be/-cO8Zzns71U?t=1m22s

Ariel: "I know you said you wanted to go home afterwards with the belt to see your son;
are you still planning on going home now without the belt?"

Nice to see Whittaker improve his persona since TUF - he came across as a nauseous dimwit there but he comes across OK now. He looked a good prospect on the show for sure though and has just got better steadily since then.

Kinda random but Satoshi Ishii is fighting a 10-0 Russian FightMatrix have #24 at HW on a joint MMA-Boxing card. Fight about to start.

how do you guys think rockhold and weidman will fare against whittaker
07-09-2017 , 03:40 PM
Current Weidman gets lit up. Rockhold is an interesting fight as maybe his range and kicks could give Whittaker some problems.

Thing with Whittaker though is he's a really good counter striker but he also has some really good surprise attacks like his leaping left hook. Rare that fighters are really good backing up and going forward. His leaping left hook catches people by surprise pretty often and it covers distance well.
