Amazing main event, maybe FOTY so far for me. If Dustin doesn't knock him out there he might have been done on that leg
04-15-2018 , 12:19 AM
really wonder what the scores were
04-15-2018 , 12:56 AM
I scored first 2 for Poirier and 3rd for Gaethje.
04-15-2018 , 04:59 AM
Same, although 3rd was obv 9-9 due to the point deduction. That said I think the 4th and 5th rounds were going to be really rough for Dustin on that leg had he not got the KO.

much respect to gaethje, dude is super entertaining and tough

told you condit was washed up. dude looked hella slow and probably should not be fighting anymore. 16 year career, lost 7 of his last 9. gtfo dude, it's sad at this point.

In fairness, I think Brazilian cowboy looked phenomenal there with great explosive power. I care about Condit so he should leave fighting or at least go to Bellator and get paid.

oliveira is the real cowboy imo, always liked him. dude is game AF

edit: that's kinda my point about condit (and brown) tho. guys like oliveira who are super tough and solid aren't even ranked top 10 and are blowing through these older veterans. game done passed you by, time to move on before you end up a vegetable.
04-15-2018 , 01:08 PM
I wouldn’t say Oliveira blew through him. I think Carlos got caught with an up kick and was winning the fight. I don’t think Carlos is elite anymore so you could make arguments he needs to retire but if you think that was a terrible performance or Olivera isn’t too competition you’re wrong imo.

Seeing fights live was def interesting. I could imagine splurging for front 5 row seats if it was a great fight. On floor at row 15 I was still constantly looking up at big screen.
Energy is nuts. Key would be to have fight in good arena - Gila River Arena is pure aids. Edible started to peak during Condit fight which helped.

Sucked that both Condit and Justin lost...took wind out of crowds sails but both were fun fights.

Saw Goldie at concession stand. Met DC at highliter stripclub post fights which was a trip.

Anyone feel like it's been in an alternate universe/fan fiction that bisping actually became champ and then lost it to GSP?

I dont think its canon lore.

haha, that would be hilarious.

Gaethje is so entertaining but damn is his style of fighting going to leave him drooling in a wheelchair at a young age. Condit fight was pretty rough to watch.

Kimbo Slice's kid picked up a quick win in the Bellator event over the weekend.

Dustin's leg looks bad but better than I thought it might.

04-17-2018 , 04:00 PM
That isn't a Faber leg that's for sure but still not pretty.

JJ going hard on the fact she thinks she was burned by the NY judges. We all know it probably was 48-47 and not 49-46 but she actually thinks she won. I'm so shocked.
04-17-2018 , 04:16 PM
I rewatched the 1st, 2nd, and 5th rounds recently and how anyone in their right mind thinks she won any of those rounds baffles me.

Maybe JJ wins that fight if it was their 1st fight and she was still champ. You have to be very convincing to beat a sitting champion in the eye of the judges. The champ almost always gets the benefit of doubt and then some.

her corner convinced her the fight was close after 2nd round

did she even rewatch the fight tho
04-17-2018 , 04:46 PM
Plus this indisputable evidence. Although this obviously says more about JJ herself again and not her post fight analyzing skills.

Yeah, Rose did much more damage. That isn't really an argument but if you want to take the damage JJ did into consideration you have to admit she limited Rose's movement, later in the fight, with those leg kicks. The leg kicks don't show in that pic.
04-17-2018 , 05:05 PM
Definitely agree with that, as I do most of your analysis.

You have to take everything they say in post-fight interviews very lightly. They are still shocked and emotional as well as not given the chance to watch the fight from a third person point of view. Add in brain trauma for extra confusion.

The problem with JJ is all she seems to do is lock into excuses and that's a bad look. I wanted to see her and Roses interviews on MMA hour last week and see if she changed her tune after watching the fight but those interviews were cut out of the youtube video.
04-17-2018 , 08:10 PM
No chance JJ ever thinks that fight as anything but a bad decision.

I saw that today. She’s being misleading when she says he was disgusted by the scoring. I haven’t read the article or his comments but I assume he was unhappy with the judges that scored it 4-1 Rose. The jokes on JJ because even if you do win three close rounds vs a champ you’re almost never going to get the W. Especially if the two rounds the champ won were convincing.

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has been banned for six months after failing two drugs tests earlier this year.

Alvarez's ban has been backdated, so he will be free to fight from 17 August.

Golden Boy Promotions said Alvarez "looks forward to returning to the ring in September for Mexican Independence Day weekend".
lol boxing

The whole Canelo thing is so ridiculous. Clenbuterol is a ************ drug. Unless he was walking around at 220+ back in Feb/Mar, there's really no reason for him to be taking it so far out from the fight. If he got popped 2 weeks out, I wouldn't buy the tainted meat thing, but months away from fight night, it seems like the most reasonable explanation. It's like no one bothers with context anymore.

From wikipedia: It causes an increase in aerobic capacity, central nervous system stimulation, blood pressure, and oxygen transportation.

Seems like those would be useful effects for training after you just lost to the other guy. Bodybuilders use it for weight cutting but all kinds of athletes use it to enhance performance.
