it doesn't really matter what you label it...staying up for 6 days, grandiosity (i'm jesus/my son is jesus) followed by paranoia/conspiracy, unusually bad judgement - when all of that is going on at the same time it requires mood stabilizing medication.
i'm close to someone who is bi-polar, and mania is basically an unlimited well of energy. it's amazing how well someone who's manic can function after 3 days of no sleep.
it explains tony's 2AM runs/never ending training, and why he's impossible to knock out.
being manic during a fight must be the ultimate advantage. the stress of a fight could easily trigger his mania and give him superhuman powers.
