Speaking of which, I'm a lot more into wine than I was last time I was there. What are everyone's favorite spots for wine by the glass? I used to like Vin Sur Vingt a lot but that was when I was in my 20s and didn't know **** about wine.
I recently went to Aldo Sohm Wine Bar on 51st. Sohm is the sommelier for Le Bernardin and opened up shop next door. Really solid wine list and a range of good by-the-glass options that constantly change.

Current BTG Wine List

This looks phenomenal, thank you.

Wow, ok, I was certain that blogs/videos were just overhyping it. Glad to hear that's not the case.

Has anyone heard of/been to Holy Ground in TriBeCa? Speakeasy-style cocktail bar and steakhouse/barbecue restaurant. It looks really new and has good potential judging by early ratings on Yelp and Google.

Serious question: In Brooklyn, what’s a good spot for pounding Miller Lites with your bros between 2am-4am/last call?

Don’t really do this much anymore but always liked Crocodile Lounge for this. Bonus points for skeeball and burning the roof of your mouth with the free “pizza”

What an excellent answer. I forgot they had one in Brooklyn, I've only been to the one on 14th.

I’m sure I am like two years behind on this but I had the Peking duck Mr Bing for lunch on Friday and holy hell was it good. I may eat at urbanspace every day from now on.

Hi all, on my honeymoon in Ocean City, NJ and taking the bus to NY City this morning and coming back at 1130 tonight. Can yall help us out on a couple things to do while up there?

As of now we dont have any things we feel we have to do. My wife has been before.

As of now we are thinking:

2p play (Dear Evan Hanson) willing to see something else thoughts?
Walk in Central Park
Walk by where 911 happened
Maybe hit an AA meeting.

Help us out!
Thanks

Just moved to the city from Arkansas, so don't know too many people. Out of town this weekend, but would love to meet some people from here for a drink sometime. I'm in Hudson Yards area.

I went to this place on Monday. Steak was overpriced, but overall the food was better than I expected.

I used to like Floyd for that.

New Yorkers,

A couple of mini reviews

Dead rabbit: overrated. Cocktails and food were fine, nothing special. Tried multiple cocktails off the menu, most were too sweet and not very interesting flavor profiles. They had a riff on a boulevardier, that one was really good. Short rib sliders and lamb chops great, everything else so-so. Nothing wrong with this place, but not super hyped top cocktail bar in the world level.

Paper coffee: good coffee, great croissant, and just an amazing space to hang out in. Huge beautiful spacious super comfortable to either relax or work for a while.

Myrna,

You’re an LES guy right? Have you been to Scarr’s pizza? They’re getting quite a bit of hype as one of the best slice shops in NY. The owner seems like a super cool local guy and they mill their own flour in the basement of the shop. I’m gonna go check it out soon.
Well, LES will always be my hangout spots but chinatown home for me now (mulberry/canal) , got a good deal from the owner i couldnt pass up on.

I actually was there the day they opened (i lived at 29 orchard ), and I had a couple of their slices, i thought it was really good , but rosarios, prince street and pomodoros are still me three go to (for different types of slices)

Also gotta give a good review on GEM on Forsyth , the chef is a 18 year old kid, who does an amazing job with his tasting menu , 7 to 10 courses , and a very very reasonable price , for someone who is probably going to want triple that soon.

Ny peeps,

Tried to go to Cote, but they didn’t have anything available til too late.

Ended up at Hanjan. Excellent! Had the $50 set meal which was great. Added the half and half fried chicken to start, which was completely unnecessary, but you should absolutely do it.

Flatiron room for cocktails after. Annoyingly pretentious attitude by hosts to start things off, but cocktails and music were great.

Another cocktail at the bar at the Breslin, terrible.

A smokeshack at shake shack, excellent.

Beers at As Is, excellent selection and service.

A beer at Rudy’s. Somehow a Bud is still $3 and hot dogs are still free.

Love this thread. Thanks for all the recommendations! I'm definitely down for a meet-up sometime.

Went to Lil Frankie's on someone's recommendation in the Cooking Thread. Was excellent. Highly recommend the eggplant app, though it can be easily replicated at home.

Went to The Park in Meatpacking for the first time in a while. Little quieter there than usual since it was freezing out, but still my all-around favorite nightlife spot to go to with a big group in the city, due to its four distinct areas (rooftop; atrium; bar with fireplaces; nightclub/lounge).

The Brazen Head has become my go-to after work bar, located in Downtown Brooklyn. Awesome beer and liquor selections that frequently rotate, and reasonably priced.

Been meaning to try this place. Actually saw the chef when I was eating at Cervo’s (another great spot). Will check it out soon.

Ate at Cote last night for the first time! Really enjoyed it and thought value was pretty good given the quality of meats and sides. The dry aged ribeye was unbelievable. Would highly recommend for a group night out. They have an extensive wine list as well.

Agree the Breslin is terrible. As Is is my favorite beer bar in the city.

Went to the Michellin-starred Aldea for a late NYE dinner.

Had some really high points. The uni and foie apps were amazing. The foie was by far the best I've ever had. So good I ordered it for dessert too. Thumbs down on the wine pairing ($60) and duck entree. The regular wine list was pretty affordable, and beware of the 4-course tasting option, since for 3 of the 4 of us it was cheaper just to order the same dishes al la carte.

I don't care about this sort of mistake, but it was quite funny watching the waiter running/stumbling up the stairs with the champagne toast at 12:01am. Whoops.

Been going to watch almost every UFC PPV at the Brooklyn Tap House, which is in the Clinton Hill neighborhood. Insanely extensive beer offerings, and the walls are covered in massive TVs and projector screens, so there's not a bad seat in the place. Almost never a cover.

Went to Gramercy Tavern for brunch the weekend before Xmas. Everyone loved their food and the atmosphere is perfect. I had the duck Cobb salad and lobster toast with black truffle, both were amazing.

Team NYC,

Some more places:

John Doe: small casual bar in/near flatiron. Make some pretty solid cocktails.

and in Brooklyn:

Circa brewpub: fun place to hang out, very solid beers.

Threes: fun, giant brewery space. IPA was quite good, nothing amazing.

Bricolage: Vietnamese small plates and cocktails. A+ cocktails, best I’ve had this trip by far. Beef chips are ****ing amazing. Super thin crispy beef jerky chips. Overall excellent place.

Blueprint: solid little cocktail bar. Drinks were good, not great.

Hill country food park: cool little place with a few different Texas-themed food options. Just got a little bbq snack here. Moist brisket was delicious, sausage may have been even better.

Gramercy is the GOAT lunch spot in NYC if you're about the food vs people watching.

New Yorkers,

Chez moi Brooklyn:

Eggs Norwegian aka salmon Benedict. Excellent. Also A+ fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Their cocktail bar downstairs (boudoir) is also great.

Clinton Hall (Fidi location):

Fun place I’ve been to a bunch of times for their solid taplist, but first time having dinner here. Their dry aged burger and fries for $19 is 100% worth it and one of the tastiest burgers I’ve had in quite a while.

^^ Nice, been to Clinton Hall FiDi a couple times, never eaten though.

Couple places I have had recently

Meatball shop chelsea - leftovers from wife's work dinner. Pasta was good; meatballs really good.

Ill Gattopardo on 54th - app: fresh mozzarella w/ tomatoes and prosciutto. Really enjoyed this. Spicy sausage pasta dish with sweeter sauce was good. The spice really shined through which I like. Couple solid desserts, small though. Entree prices seemed normal, apps and desserts I thought were kind of high ($15-$18)

Ottos tacos in HK: Thought the chicken taco was excellent. The carne asada was alright.
