DC wasn't on 2 days notice for fighting in general and he gassed for a reason that wasn't visible in the fight.

Agree with the first statement. That's basically what you have to bet on.

I think the Silva fight is a significant blemish. D.C. looked awful against a MW (keep in mind Cormiers fought HW) and it was Anderson on short notice not D.C. Plus Silva has declined some amount for sure. Even if he's the GOAT he's not fighting like it anymore.

That was a drunk night but I'm pretty sure Silva wobbled him too. Very bad outing for D.C.

He hit him with a body kick that seemed to hurt him. Wonder if it'll give Rumble ideas to go to the body. Think mixing it up to the body and not head hunting would be a good idea for Rumble, though I don't think he should go for body kicks. Those will turn into takedowns for DC. But Rumble punches hard enough to do serious damage to the body.

DC saying “If I have a perfect fight I'll embarrass him. If I have a bad fight then it'll be close".

Sounds like something Ronda was saying right before she got her head kicked off.

Dont worry DC will miss weight and fight will be canceled, if not he ll test positive to the BS stuff.

I know that pic got posted recently, but Weidman looking in phenomenal shape in the 2nd Embedded episode.

He legit looks better than he ever did even pre USADA.

His reasoning for being smaller against Luke was mainly he was worried about not having an IV post weight cut, so hopefully all that goes well.

Pretty much every fighter I've wanted to win big fights over the last year and a half has lost, so hopefully my boi can come out and finish Mousasi and get the hype train back on track.

lol I bet Cormier is a serious eater. I could see him winning hot dog contests

Ok guys, I'll take your comments in consideration and make a modest bet instead of a big one. Still I think it's value to bet on DC, he ate that punch in the first fight, didn't seem to affect him that much even though he went down. He also took surprisingly well some kicks, DC has just lost one fight in his career and it was not like JJ outclassed him. JJ won clearly but itwas a competitive fight.

One other thing to consider is that even though DC is old for a fighter, he started his career late and hasnt taken that much punishment all things considered. Heavier weight fighters peak in mid their 30s so I dont think age is that big of a difference.

Anyway everyone here seem to think differently then me so I'm probebly wrong but let's see what happens, also I like DC so I really hopes he wins.
04-05-2017 , 06:15 AM
Also remember, nobody likes DC (I don't get it either), so that sometimes colors their opinions. That's where the betting value is coming from.

DC was a fan favorite before his rivalry with Jon, people just really turned on him when he floundered on the mic. It's a shame, too, because he seems like such a good dude. Saw a video of him skyping with his wrestling students while he was on the road for the UFC. **** like that, and this really make me like the guy.

Not sure where you get that idea.

No way Honda would have ever admitted there was any possibility of the fight being close.

i'll explain why, as a casual fan, idgaf about DC

-he's a wrestler
-he seems whiny AF
-he's fat
-he's not the real LHW champion
-he fights like once a year
-all the fights i've seen from him are boring grinded out decisions (and finishing a completely gassed rumble, props for that but meh)

obv a great fighter, he's just not exciting, he doesn't have star power.

he does seem like a good dude at the end of the day tho

I feel if you know his back story, and all the things that man has been through, it's hard not to love him for the kind of awesome kind hearted human being he still is.

As someone else said though I think a lot of people like Cormier the person, just not Cormier the fighter. Plus a lot of casuals are just terrible human beings, to cheer for Jon Jones to beat him.
04-05-2017 , 03:33 PM
Well dont just make vague allusions to what a great guy he is, share some his backstory with me.

Jon jones is a piece of **** inside and outside of the ring. **** that guy, but hes def a better octagon fighter than DC. LHW division sucks so hard, not interested in any of those dudes
04-05-2017 , 03:57 PM
Ah I figured everyone in here knew about it. His father was murdered when he was 7 years old, then his cousin and best friend were killed in seperate car accidents, lost his college buddy, Daniel Lawson, when a plane carrying the Oklahoma State basketball team crashed, then his 18 month old daughter was killed in a car accident when an 18 wheeler crashed into her baby sitters car I believe.

So much loss due to car accidents, and then you got Jones who's crashed twice while under the influence, once fleeing from the scene after injuring a pregnant woman.

Yet he still handles Jones with grace. It's pretty incredible.

And he does a ton of volunteering to help with kids etc.

As for Jones being better in the cage, pre usada definitely. I'm gonna wait to see how Jones looks post USADA to make a final judgement though. As I've posted a bunch in the past I think Jones was on them NFL level PEDs his entire career ( his brother popped like a week after him ) and he didn't look great in his only fight in the USADA era, and I'm not writing that off as just ring rust.
04-05-2017 , 04:47 PM
i think i heard about his daughter, that **** is beyond terrible.

you'll notice i dont go around talking trash about him or whatever, i'd definitely like to see him destroy JJ but i just dont have enough confidence in him to really get the job done, so i invest nothing in him emotionally. my favorite fighters already cause me enough disappointment
04-05-2017 , 05:12 PM
My buddy's 6 yo son wrestles against D.C.'s team in some tournaments. He has met him a few times and says he is a genuine class act and is really focused on his kids, and is open to anyone who approaches him.

He's just kind of a dork and there is seemingly always that pending "waaah-waaaah" horn noise following him around. Kinda like a Henry Cejudo, but not as bad. There is just a little something missing from the projected confidence that is present for jj and AJ.
04-05-2017 , 05:18 PM
It's prbly because he's a good person who's fighting and beating people up for a living.

He's not able to portray a bloodthirsty or cold attitude. I'm sure he didn't revel in ****ing Dan Henderson up. Bones would have. He's more outside linebacker than a guy the ref has to stop from literally killing the other man.

Meaning he doesn't have the mentality of a fighter, he has one of an athlete. That's the knock that Bisping is putting on GSP too.
04-05-2017 , 05:25 PM
The personality of a fighter isn't really a great thing to have.
04-05-2017 , 06:00 PM
funny because I put bisping in the same category. He is wildly successful but to a lot of people he is unlikable and easy to root against. It's not just the heel aspect, it is a lack of swagger that makes him seem like he is a loser somehow.

I'm also a little surprised Rumbles a favorite, but only a little. Dudes a killer.
Remember back when Rumble was losing at WW to Josh freakin' Koscheck? Good times.

Has a fighter ever turned a career around after jumping TWO weight classes like Rumble has? Pretty amazing. Even more amazing that he ever made weight at WW...like ever. Dude is massive.

He's also a notorious *******. So there's that.

I agree. But so are Conor, chael and JbJ. I like D.C. myself. Just identifying where people get turned off of him.
