Everything other then a Hastens bed is cheap mass produced crap, for the finest of beds among people that really know what quality is there is only one choice. As used by royalty.

http://www.hastens.com/en/

They start around the $4k mark and go on up to about $80k for custom ones.

Some reviews:

I decided on memory foam. Have had it for about 3 weeks and its one of the best decision ever splurging on new mattress/bedding for those of you considering spending some $

I'm also planning on investing in a top quality mattress as I too recently had the epiphany that I spend ~1/3 of my life revitalizing myself to ensure I can perform at the best of my ability.

Anyways, are there no substitutes to Tempurpedic? I know one of the mattress salesman in the thread said to check out the density of the memory foam. What about these guys? They too seem to have 5.3lb/sq. ft.

Can one of the mattress salesman ITT or anybody else with experience fill me in on this? I'd like to make the purchase asap, to invest in better quality sleep asap so please fill me in asap.

Thanks, 2p2. Much love.

Since density has became a selling point a lot of your knock-offs will add a silicon or clay like substance that ups the density but downgrades performance.

I've known people that have gotten knock offs and been perfectly happy w/ them. I've also heard a bunch of horror stories. So it's kind of hit and miss if you go cheaper but a vast majority of people are happy w/ their tempurpedics.

I bought from Angel Beds a little over two years ago and it was amazing for the first year, adequate for the second, and is now pretty much worthless. The foam feels like it has just completely worn out and doesn't really provide any support at all anymore. I would definitely not buy from them again. I bought the cheapest style (Modern), so maybe the higher end beds are better, but I wouldn't risk it. The warranty only covers impressions greater than 1.5" and mine still returns to the normal shape, even though it is nowhere near as comfortable as when I got it.

Ah, I figured there was a catch. Sorry to hear that about your mattress, but thanks for the heads up. People like you are the reason this community is so great.

Bought a Dormia memory foam for $444 from TheDump in Pennsylvania. It's the queen size, supposedly the Temporpedic knock-off. Love it, one of the best purchases I've made. For the price, if it only lasts a few years, it was still worth every penny, but they're supposed to last for a long time. Pair it with Wamsutta sheets, and every other bed I've ever slept on sucks sucks sucks.

if i'm in the market for a new bed set, where would you recommend I go first? Tempurpedic might be too top of the line for me to afford it. I'd like to spend around 2k...opinions?

Good thread. My mattress basically collapsed so, on a student budget, I just bought this setup: 1. Full size mattress and boxspring- bare-bones, nothing fancy; Sticker was around $300 and I got it for $250 (came with a 5 year warranty). 2. 2.5 inch memory foam pad with a 3lb density. Looking forward to trying it.

Pacific pillows sells pacific coast pillows and comforters. I just bought 4 pillows (2 king and 2 standard) and a king comforter from costco $160.

I would pay $300 for these things they are great.

I recently moved, and due to the new layout of my bedroom, my bed is oriented differently. As a result I'm sleeping in a different position than the past 2 years. The problem I'm having is the memory foam isn't resetting, it seems to have permanent indentations fitting my prior sleeping position. I've noticed this previously when gone on vacation (say for a week).

Is there a way to force the memory foam back into it's original "unset" form? Or am I now stuck with it the way it is? If the latter, I'll have to toss out the mattress and get a new one, because my back is sore every day now.

whoa!

Nation, I live in Vegas (for now) but am moving within the next to Seattle. Anyways I don't have much 'stuff' but I do have a California King Tempurpedic thats in excellent condition (15 months old, mattress cover 24/7 365, no food or drink ever in bed, i don't sweat a lot etc). It looks and feels brand new.

Anyways, I have the bed a nice simple frame ($600+) and a 50 inch TV to move. Moving this stuff will cost me like $2500 which is close to not being worth it. Anyways, blah blah blah I will sell you the bed+frame for about $2500. TV can be had also. You can come over and check it out anytime, but the sale would need to be made very soon as I need to decide what I am going to do here.

I LOVE this bed hardcore its just not making a lot of sense moving it right now. This offer is open to anyone btw.

SleepMasters has refused to refund money to my elderly mother. My mother purchased a single foam bed two days ago and became very ill with the smell of it. She continuously aired the room out but the smell would not go away. The packing stated it would take between 2 to 24 hours for the smell to subside. This was not true.

I called and explained and the company was very rude and unprofessional. They basically told me, "too bad, you are stuck with the bed now. It's not defective". But it is defective because of the horrible smell making my mother ill. It has only been two days and the bed has not been used (it was for a spare bedroom). We are returning the bed to the store tomorrow even though they are refusing to refund our money. We are going to file a formal complaint with Trading Standards, Watchdog, and the Financial ombudsman - are they any other agencies we can contact in order to get my mother's money returned to her?

This is the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. They didn't tell her about the smell of the mattress and the wrapping on the matterss was deceptive and inaccurate. Any further suggestions would be appreciated? A company should not be allowed to treat customers so disrespectfully, especially an 85 year old woman. It's shameful. Avoid this company at all costs

I need a new bed...

I really love hotel beds. Aria and Borgata come to mind as beds I've really enjoyed recently.

Is it the mattress or all the bedding that makes them so great?

I can't decide if I want to emulate something like that in my place, or just get an awesome tempurpedic. I suppose if it's the bedding and not the mattress that makes me like those beds, I don't even have to make a choice?

I am admittedly very clueless when it comes to this stuff.

Mattress and sheets are important. When u go mattress shopping, test out the mattress by laying on it. Roll around on it too. For bedding, u cannot go wrong with 1000 thread count 100% cotton sheets.

The higher the thread count does not = softness. Some higher thread count shetts are very heavy and hot(although they will probably last longer). So i woulndt let thread count be a major buying point.

Check out bamboo sheets!

Anyone have any thoughts on the NovaForm from Costco. Tempurapedic knockoff but a heck of a price? I bought one for my guest room.
