Can someone answer this question who has had one of these beds for a while?

This thread has kind of died off, did anyone ever figure out the best types of sheets to buy? I started to look into sheets and it seems like you can spew a lot of money on them. Some of the higher end brands like sferra can run $300+ just for a queen sized 'flat' sheet. So the entire set (flat sheet, fitted sheet, pillowcases) would run you something in the range of $600-900. Pretty pricey if you're gonna have two sets of those so that one can be in the wash while the other is on the bed.

Anyone have any good advice on sheets?
I've heard anything in fabric you should go for a high thread count, like Egyptian cotton, but i havent got them myself.

you don't need to buy a box spring...and box springs are annoying anyways. my platform bed has a giant slide out drawer where the box spring would typically be taking up space

If anyone decides that they want the king size Tempurpedic Celebrity and wants a bit of a deal on it shoot me a pm. I have a new one still in the box in my garage. Ideally you would live somewhere in the southeast so shipping wouldn't be insane.

What is everyone using for the actual decoration/style of their bed?

Can you get away with just using a comforter? Comforter+blanket?
Any suggestions on styles/colors/etc?

Here are a few simple ones I saw that I liked from googling around:

Any preferences? As you can tell, I sort of prefer the earthier tones, but wouldn't mind some color as well.

I also just ordered some bamboo sheets and am pretty excited to try those out. I'll give a report back to let you guys know what I think.

i bought a sealy posturepedic latex mattress the other day and love it of course

price was listed as 2100 for the queen sized, i got it delivered with a pillow and mattress protector thrown in for 1500 total

the other mattresses i were looking at were both simmons beautyrest world classes which were listed for 1700 and 1900 which i could have gotten for 1000 and 1200 respectively, to help those looking to buy w/ pricing

2 stores couldnt make it happen on the price for me, though one of the guys didnt seem like a manager at one store and another just seemed like a dick

ended up buying from a 'sleep outfitters' which is a decent sized chain in the southeast. will actually be heading back to the same store to help my mom purchase a new mattress since the guy there will work out a fair deal

also have bamboo sheets in the mail and a down comforter in the mail which ill report back on

There's a decent site to get linens and pillows from, http://www.pacificpillows.com

They had twins a couple years ago so they had a 50% off sale. As far as I know, this only happens once a year. E-mail I got says use the code "CELEBRATE" and is valid until midnight PST on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Update:

Just tried out the bamboo bed sheets from Bed Bath & Beyond.

Overall, they are very very soft. However, they completely lack any crispness, and do not feel very cool or smooth. It's more like a peach fuzz.

They are also very thin, almost no weight at all to them.

I plan on returning these and trying something else. I may give some egyptian cotton sateen sheets a shot next. Any other recommendations?

Here's the site I ended up using: http://www.sleepbamboo.com/ .

I really like them. I agree that they don't have the sort of crisp that cotton sheets have, but I don't really get the peach fuzz description, so you might just have crappy ones.

Also, I recommend everyone go and try them out in a store near you. You can't avoid sales tax with a Tempur-pedic and the pricing is fixed and a store will give you free pillows + next day delivery. Also, I almost ordered the Classic online until I went to the store and realized the Celebrity is much more what I'm looking for in a bed. Sure I talked myself into an extra $2k, but for a bed that will last 20 years it is worth it.
Wish I would have seen this earlier; you can haggle like crazy with a mattress.

I bought a Queen Tempurpedic Deluxe from a major retailer in SF. It's sticker price was $2,299 before tax. I paid $1,450 tax included with delivery and two Tempurpedic pillows. I just pretended I was on the phone with a friend that was at Brookstone and asked them if they could beat Brookstone's current "sale." I helped a friend buy a mattress from another major retailer in SF and got an amazing price for a different bed using the same tactic.

I never had a sinking feeling, but it gets hot as ****. Maybe this problem is gone with the new higher end Tempurpedic beds (I have a Deluxe)

Wife just told me she wants to go to a king instead of a queen. I did not object.

prolly just gonna roll into 3-4 mattress stores and pick whichever one feels most comfortable, and bring cash.

does cash help for negotiations for mattresses?

Only in the more sketchy places I would imagine... the above board places probably all make more by convincing you to take whatever loan thingy they can give you.

I ended up buying the Celeb Tempur King size bed and it is glorious. Sleeping amazing and its been great for spening time on during the day and the sex also.

What is a fair negotiated price for a King Simmons Beautyrest World Class, $1000-1200? Also, should I demand free frame and delivery with that? Just want an idea of what I should be looking for, thanks.

Update:

I just returned the bamboo sheets, and bought these instead:

Beech Sateen Sheets
http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/prod...=-1&SKU=113688

Overall, these sheets are much better than the bamboo sheets. They are very soft, similar to the bamboo sheets, but have a nice smooth feel to them because of the sateen weave.

I like them and think I will keep these. I'll probably sleep on them a few more nights and see what I think.

The 2 major cons are: 1) They are very thin and 2) they do not have a crisp feel.

It seems you pretty much have to decide if you want crisp or soft, as it's tough to get both.

Anyone have any good recommendations for high-end comforters and duvets?

Kind of depends on how warm you need it to be. I used to live in Chicago, so I bought the most expensive duvet at BB&B a year or two ago and love it. Very soft, and extremely warm.

Now that I've moved back to Texas, though, I'm looking for something less bulky and not nearly as hot.

I am moving across the country to San Diego in a week with Chicago Joey. I am literally only taking what fits in my car, therefore I will need new bed and everything else.

I don't want to spend ~2k on a bed and was wondering what kind of suggestions you guys may have for a microballer budget. I'm kind of a life nit and would be happy to only spend under 1k on a frame/mattress if possible. What stores online or live should I check out? Fwiw I've always slept on a crappy old box spring mattress so I would like a little upgrade if possible.

I liked this one as I was glancing through.

This is very confusing as both Pacific Coast and Pacific Pillows claim to have the MGM pillows. Pacific Pillows is a lot more adamant about it. Now I don't know which to buy.

I'm looking for something good in the 150-400 price range. ideally including boxspring/base in a full size.

I've never bought a mattress before, what's the best way to find one and get a good price?

I'm horrible at bargaining. Say I find a $1200 Tempurpedic. How do I even begin the negotiations? "I'd be willing to pay $800 for this." Sounds too blunt. Haha.

anyone have experience with the nest line of bedding from design within reach? it feels really soft and awesome but its kinda obscenely expensive, maybe someone here can talk me out of paying 700$ for a duvet cover, a fitted sheet and a couple of pillow covers...
