Only in the gilt black colorway now but assuming they follow the 41mm BB timeline they'll come out with red and blue bezels and a PVD version in the next year or so, and the best part is that the new thinner inhouse movement might give us a smaller Pelagos or an inhouse fixed bezel Black Bay.

I'm surprised there's not more chatter about Omega doing a pretty major redesign of the Seamaster.
The new seamaster looks amazing, but I don't pay a lot of attention to Omega bc every time I have worn one I feel underwhelmed. I want to like them, I just have had negative reactions to all I have tried.

Re: Let's Talk Watches

This is a nice watch

Do I like it over a JLC Master Control + $1000 in my pocket ? No.

The Omega also a bit thick for a dress watch at 11.2mm vs the 8.5mm of the JLC.

idk, this seems sort of half-ass to me. I mean, omega already made this ****ing piece, re-issuing it with a new movement isnt a big deal.

I know this is sort of hypocritical since I posted a montblanc "retro" piece earlier but montblanc is actually new to the watch game, it's not really a reissue for them. idk, humans are weird and complicated, if you're an old, heritage brand you should be doing new stuff, if youre a new brand it's OK for you to do retro stuff I guess.

Tudor gets a pass for weird reasons I can't articulate.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Agree on the BB 58 being the real winner. It's everything the BB Steel & Gold isn't, in particular the brushed silver links on the bracelet instead of brushed gold.

Still waiting on Tudor to update the Oysterdate 79160. It's the closest thing I'll ever get to a panda dial Paul Newman.

Never taking that Omega over a JLC MC

And i know this didnt drop at basel, but Tudor getting the B01 chrono movement from Breitling (this is anecdotal, but I had a B01 Transocean and it was acurate, had instant date change, great feel on the pushers, 70 hour reserve, loved it) and dropping it in a rolex quality case and selling for 5k is just bonkers at that price.

end tudor rant.

That Omega's pricing is absurd. Forget a JLC, just staying with Omega, the Railmaster and Aqua Terra are cheaper and for the 3 hand versions their minute hands are the correct length. Also for a seven thousand dollar dress watch 11mm is on the thick side, I know Omega doesn't do thin as a brand but thinness would've been something that could distinguish that from their other dressy sport options.

Re: Let's Talk Watches

What do you guys think about the 2018 Omega Seamaster 300m versus the model from the last few years? I'm thinking of getting one of the two, but the 2018 model doesnt come out until the summer.

And also blue or black?

Re: Let's Talk Watches

Major differences for the 2018 model are 8800 movement, slightly larger case, wave dial, slightly fancier hands, date window at 6, and the display back.

what's the price difference? I'm not a fan of the display back but the 8800 + wave dial are both major plusses in my book.

Re: Let's Talk Watches

Prices vary from place to place, but both seem around 4400usd. You can luck out with the old model which on sale on jomashop now for 2900~.

Re: Let's Talk Watches

yeah if street prices are the same then it's no question to get the newer one. For a 50% premium, though, I'm not so sure. Honestly, for me personally I'm not really interested in the older model and I am interested in the newer one so the question for me would be if there's any other piece I would rather spend 4.4k on (answer: probably).
