Here's mine ...

I think it's one of the best green-dialed watches. Only thing I ever disliked about it was the strap, which I replaced with the Seiko stainless steel band. I like the way it wears. Love the shade of green on the dial and how the gold hands and indices complement it. It's not keeping the time so well after three years. Whenever I take it off my winder after a week, it's about 20 minutes slow. Guess it needs a servicing.

That isn't a great price for it, btw, you can and should be able to find it for more like $375.

I put my Green 17 on calfskin brown with white stitching.

Absolutely love that watch.

Took me a while to get used to its relatively small size compared to many in my collection.

Now I believe it would be gaudy if any bigger.

That fake croc thing it comes with can't be meant to be a keeper. It really is horrible.

My love of watches has seeped into clocks? I just bought these incredible mid-century clocks. They were made by Arthur Umanoff for George Nelson and Associates for Howard Miller in about 1960. I fell in love with the flip clock, and the circular came as part of the package. But that circular with the uncluttered silver face and the red second hand actually looks like a watch I would buy. Here is the flip clock in action (not my video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_5****19q8

LoL. Wtf, the video has s Hit in the url, so it gets bleeped out as a four-letter word. Do a youtube search for "George Nelson Flip Clock Designed For Howard Miller." You're going to want to see this video, as every time it flips it's pretty much an orgasm for me.

Anyone else had their love of watches translate to clocks? I have a wall clock but that was more for design. This is the first time I felt my appreciate of watches made me want clocks.

Watches are mostly looked at in either two ways by people - a peice of jewelery or a functional device. Clocks are looked at as art or a functional device. If you view a watch as a piece of jewelry, I would guess you would look at a clock in your home more as a piece of art. If you looked at a watch as a functional device, I'd expect you to view a clock as the same.

In other words a person with a digital watch is probably much more likely to own a digital clock. A person with a Rolex is probably much more likely to own a clock that is aesthetically pleasing. (Note - this does not apply to the bedroom, where uniquely function heavily outweighs aesthetics, every other room in the house it would probably apply)

I would also guess an engineer type would own functional pieces where an artistic person would own an aesthetically pleasing ones. I would also suspect rich people almost always go for aesthetically pleasing. I would also guess the vast majority of people in this thread care solely about aesthetics.

With the rise of cell phones, I suspect the vast majority of the functional types were taken out of the watch market because a digital type watch is now redundant. We all carry timepieces with us.

Btw, I'm completely pulling this out of my ass, it's just a hunch I came up with while on the toilet at 3am.

So what would you say the flip clock above says about me? I say it's both functional (watching the mechanism of the red rotor spinning and setting off the flips) and aesthetically pleasing, while the circular clock is merely aesthetically pleasing. But they both also have a classic/historical factor.

It's a cool looking clock. It's similar to a digital type clock but it's got an old-school look. I personally like it a lot. I don't know if it says anything about you, maybe I would guess you are a guy who likes leather bands on a watch over only metal ones.

It's interesting when you look around and stop and think about it. A clock on a stove/range is almost exclusively digital except for really old-school ones. Why are they all digital? Because its accuracy and ease of use are what's important when cooking. Take another example, like a high end luxury car. Almost always you'll see an analog clock on the dash, not digital. Yet a super high end sports car will have digital. It conveys a completely different feel.

Did you deduce that from the first post on this page, Sherlock? Heh.

Lol, I'm sorry I didn't realize you even posted a collection. I honestly just came up with it, I don't pay much attention to this thread, I check it out every few months.

Sounds good. I plugged in the clock for only the second time today as had a guest over, and this time the red rotor immediately started spinning and it ran perfectly for four hours. It's amazing this thing is still going strong after 50 or 60 years with no maintenance.

Yeah, I like that a lot. Blue and red are the most common colors in my wardrobe, so it would go with almost everything.

I love the silvercut dial but not sure about the size.

One thing I always loved about Nomos was that their 35mm watches have little to no spacers between movement and case. It almost felt like the movement was specifically designed for the case.

I understand them wanting to expand their clientelle but wish there was a 35mm version of the silvercut dial line.

Nice. That's 1/2 of my collection with the Seiko Pepsi.

Possibly going to buy a Seiko next week - visiting Hong Kong / Macau so no sales tax.

Not going for a Pepsi look, more like something silver/steel coloured.
