What in the world is that?

I got it on Friday. Only comments have been from a couple watch nerd friends who knew I had been lining it up for a while. tbh part of the appeal for me is that it's low key. I have spent a lot of time staring at it like an idiot though

I just mean it's not super recognizable as an expensive watch unless you are really into watches.

Just got this 40mm Nivrel chrono from 1937. It has some natural rust and patina.

Question- should I get this restored?

Count me in on the "don't touch the Nivrel" camp, looks awesome

Did you snag that on Ebay, En Passant? I saw one like that a few days ago for auction.

And +198583 on don't touch it. Looks amazing. Don't think you can possibly ask for an 80 year old vintage watch to look any better.

Lots of hits being shared recently. This is starting to look like the steak thread.

Yeah it's new. Actually even finding one to try on was really difficult - there are not many dealers and I struck out at 3 of them around the US over the course of a few trips.

I ended up buying mine from the UK and got a relatively good deal between a discount for paying by wire and the weak GBP. They have since raised the price by almost £3K. Just took me a while to get back to London and pick it up.

I considered buying used when I was having trouble finding one, but I'm glad I waited since there wasn't actually much money to be saved. There really aren't many of them. Mine was just made and has a two digit serial number!
