Obviously, my new favorite Rolex, displacing the old champ:

Yeah, I'm SORT of regretting it... but at the time, I had a choice between the white luminor base, and the black luminor marina. The luminor marina was more expensive obv, and I already had my tag with black face. So I snagged the white to balance out my face colors... if that makes any sense.

2009 CFB is finally manufacturing their own movement. My uncle is a watchmaker, and the owner of their business is a huge distributor for CFB and apparently the new ones with the CFB in house movement will be going for ~25k but I should be able to get one around 8k hopefully. Not sure yet.

Now the question is... if I go with the IWC Port, should i get the white face or the black.. hmmmmmmm

Agreed. They are about the only big name, quality watch maker that I don't really appreciate.

People will find plenty of reasons to adore almost any watch, and they'll find reasons not to like others, don't fall into the Paneristi trend of trolling anyone who disagrees with your taste.

I say go with the black faced Porto btw, as you already have one big white faced watch

I liked the Panerai, until I tried them on. Just didn't sit right on my wrist & give me the look I was hoping for. Oh well.

there's a GMT hand underneath the hour hand that i haven't set...on a 12 hr dial it causes me more confusion than anything.

haha I'm just messing with you... I'm quite pissed because I wasnt really that "into" watches... and when my dealer busted out the panerai's i was like ZOMG i need one. It was only afterwards I found out how DOUCHEY most of the paneristis are and how owning a panerai makes a lot of people think they are in a cult.

oh well, i still love the watch... even moreso that fact that when I wear it out nobody knows what the **** I have on my watch, and when I wear my tag a lot of people are like ZOMG nice watch... It **** tilts me when people compliment me on my watch when they don't know what the fk their talking about....

This is incredibly standard with watches, unless you are wearing a rolex or tag people will pay no attention to your wrist.

Unless you have a very well known brand, people will only comment if your watch looks cool to them. This is basically how it should be.

I got an Omega PO for Christmas (orange bezel, orange numbers, looks great, you can't miss it) that I wear just about every day. Last weekend I'm motorcycling with a guy I see all the time, we stop for lunch and he says to me, "Hey, nice watch. Is that new?" I'm wearing my Casio Triple Crown Frogman. I show it to him and tell him it's solar and he is jazzed about it.

Not that I care, but he's never said anything about the PO.

Oh, well...

Standard. There's just something about the Frogman.

that is so true ppl will never notice. lately i'll be out at the bar wearing my iwc or panerai and eventually talking to ppl who are friends of friends and ofc poker always comes up and inevitably they ask if i "make enough to live on" or w/e and im like ya i do ok blah blah and then like 15 minutes later or something they will be like "oh cool watch i like the way that looks" and the two thoughts are just so separate for them. that was the only thing my old rolex was good for, helping to explain that i could win money at poker.

Thoughts on this Franck Muller Crazy Hours model:

The hour hand automatically swings around to the correct hour on every hour. Seems like one of the cooler concepts out there especially for poker players to kind of represent that how our schedules are screwed up all the time, or something.

It might be interesting trying to tell the time on that thing after a few drinks...

Mullers are one premium brand that I wish were some quirky cheap few hundred dollar watch company, I think their cases and faces just look so damn cool, but unfortunately are super expensive, and even if I was comfortable spending 10k on a watch I wouldn't get a Muller as it does just feel douchey or showey or something, but I'm weird like that.

Where do people recommend for watch shopping in vegas? I know people have trashed tourneau here before, but it's been the most visually impressive shop I've seen so far, and the people have been really approachable, much more than the store in the palazzo(?). Is there other places I should check out to pick up a ~5k watch?
