i disagree pretty strongly with this. the speedy pro has a 42mm case, but it wears much smaller. anything over 40mm is usually pushing it for me, but the speedy wears smaller than most of my 40mm pieces. the automatic variations on the speedmaster are larger (+2.25mm) and thicker (+2mm), likely in part due to the addition of a winding rotor. it's a much less versatile size.
also, unless it's the only watch you ever wear, you'll find yourself resetting it anyway. setting and winding my watches is kind of enjoyable in this ritualistic, hands-on sort of way. if i'm going to carry around this pointless piece of tiny clockwork machinery on my wrist, i'd like to interact with it as often as possible.
finally, this isn't a speedmaster issue, but for automatic watches with a display caseback, the rotor often covers like half the movement at any point in time and gets in the way.
