I want reallllllllly good headphones just to plug into the computer and reallllllly good headphones to plug into ipod while jogging.

I don't know anything about headphones, so if someone could just link me to where I could get these headphone(s) that would be awesome. Price is not an issue.

headphone.com is always good and has a huge selection. though they're prices aren't the best, i'd do a google shopping search on whatever u buy to make sure u can't get it cheaper somewhere else

jogging = px100-ii, unless you are in a noisy environment then i'd get something like a westone um3x

computer = hmmm tough call i'll have to think about that more

Went to soundscompany in San Diego as Im shopping for some headphones and came across Bower & Wilkins new venture into the headphone field. I was very impressed with the sound of the closed headphones and they were pretty damn comfortable. They are alos made with the Ipod/phone in mind as they are able to be driven fine by the ipod with an amp.

Anyone listen to these yet or have an opinion? Its between these or some senn HD595. I am just worried about sound leakage from the Senns, mostly gonna be used playing live pokers, as it was pretty loud when my gf was wearing them and standing about 3 ft from me.

Also compared the 595s to some grados and the sennheisers were a lot more comfortable, and the owner or the store agreed.

Grunching the entire thread, but has anybody tried these? There are three different models, 2 of them have the little buttons for Iphone, one doesn't. Here's an interview with the company founder.

Some reviews are negative, but overall they are positive and I'm hopeful that these could be an inexpensive, quality earphone that won't fall out.

My headphones for computer/tv/stereo at home are the Sony MDR-V700 DJ headphones, and I have the Shure E5c in the ear earphones.

The Shure's have incredible sound and bass, and when wearing these on flights you dont hear ANYTHING except for your music (or movies, podcasts, whatever)

Just got a pair of thse for $175 of ebay. Just for home use and poker table or studying w/e. Pretty happy as I didn't want to spend over $300(The RRP for these was like 280 IIRC?) and all the review's I read said they were great noise cancelling headphones for value for money.

Anyone got these/ had experiences etc?
I bought them two years ago from Amazon for under $120. Not perfect (and a bit bulky) but comfortable and definitely great value.

Saved these Sharp's from the bin this week while clearing out my nan's garage. They're absolutely massive, really heavy and the sound crackles when you adjust the independent volume dials, but they actually sound pretty good.

Not likely to be wearing them in public mind.

I need new ipod headphones for construction work. Currently using some sony buds but they block most of the building site noise which is a safety issue. Need a good sounding headphone, mainly for spoken word podcasts and some music but can hear some outside noise. Not ideal I know, but its better than listening to workers onsite ghetto blasters.. in the 100 dollar range if possible.

plan to get these ones, i had the shure srh840, but too bulky for poker.

Did a search and nobody has mentioned these...

I needed a pair of cheap knockaround earbuds for iPod, MacBook, airplane listening. Anything but the crappy stock white iPod ones. So I got the Sony MDR-EX36V.

They're $30 at Best Buy and you can get them online cheaper. The bass is surprisingly good, the frequency response (6-23k) is better than other brands at this price level (Skull Candy, etc.), and they are amazingly comfortable. I can barely tell they're in my ears.

They don't advertise noise canceling, but they still block a lot of ambient noise. Highly recommended. Best purchase I've made in a while.

I don't know much about headphones but these seems like the place for my question.

My roommate and I each have a 42 inch TV and he is mounting his directly above mine in the living room (baller I know, esp with football season starting). What he also inquired about is a headphone/receiver that is noise canceling and can pick up one of the TVs while the other is still on and loud. This seems like a great idea as two programs can then be enjoyed at the same time. Any suggestions on where to go for these headphones or any specific suggestions?

Hi,

I am looking for some for some wireless over ear headphones for the PC to listen to music and films(Nothing too heavy duty). Looking to spend 250$/150£. Recommendations? Are the Sennheiser RS170 any good? Oh and can you get 5.1 headphones, or are they stereo? and does it matter? Thanks.

there are some better iems out there. earsonics sm2 is pretty cool i think, u can get it at soundearphones. shure se535 of course, but its pretty pricey.

The new series of Shures are out now.

So tempted to get the SE535s, they've reviewed them in Stuff and they said they are simply breathtaking - for that colour of money though you'd expect that.

They've covered the wires in kevlar as well!

My headphone inventory has expanded a bit:

Etymotic ER6
AKG K271
AKG K701
Sennheiser HD280 Pro (Work)

I think a Headroom Desktop is next on the list.

What are your long term impressions of the AKG K701? I've been trying to justify picking up a pair of them for a while. (Currently using a cheap set of Grado SR60's)
09-08-2010 , 04:30 AM
k701 kinda sux imo. its a wayyy love it or hate it headphone. id try and audition one.
09-08-2010 , 04:58 PM
I have never heard anyone say they suck but I actually think the Sennheiser HD650 are a better phone, the HD600s are within 1-2% of the 701s. I love the 701s and I'm a little confused sitting here thinking about how someone could hate them.

I would say these are pretty neutral whereas something like Grados would be a huuuuge love or hate phone (hate for me)
