I already posted in this thread about the Beats by dre headphones. I bought mine for around 350$. My take on them was they're really good headphones and they're comfortable and no complaints in that department. They were a little pricey i felt.

BUT AFTER TODAY I FEEL I GOT MY $ WORTH

There was a defect with my beats by dre headphones (the left earcup works but it cuts out a lot). The reason for this was probably my fault, as i abused my headphones a lot, the frame has 2 cracks on it and they're used up. I bought these headphones a little over a year ago (or about a year) but i dont have the receipt. Only the box.

today i called monster cable and after talking to their customer service, they offered me a courtesy exchange. Meaning i send my broken headphones in and they give me a brand new pair! I only have to pay shipping which is gonna be <20$. I didnt need to provide purchase of anything, i dont have to send in anything else but the headphones.

I will suggest to anyone in the thread to buy these headphones if u dont mind spending 350$ on them.

what other headphones have u heard? i ask because i feel that would be a necessary requirement to knowing if you got your money's worth or not. then again, ignorance is bliss? there's some truth in that. before i started all of this i could seriously rock out to a lot of tunes played on my ****ty laptop speakers. now im like zomg this isn't perfect sound and i haven't danced by myself in ages

ehh dude i just bought those sennheiser hd-280 pro on friday and i already returned them... They are decent for the price but they were not confortable at all really and couldnt imagine wearing them for long periods of time and those have no bass too.. 2 big negatives in my book.

the dennons are $200 more but im willing to pay for some quality and comfortable headphones.. Gotta pay for quality sir as someone said earlier....

i've had both bose earbuds and the quiet comfort 2s... by "beef" with headphones though is that u can rage about quality all u want... but when ur 350$ headphones stop working or those 100$ earbuds stop working, u will settle for buying another pair of 15$ headphones and not complain.

dont get me wrong, i dont regret buying them, its just that i lose headphones really easily so im happy listening to 15$ headphones when i rly need them and no other headphones are in sight

If you buy quality, you don't have to worry about that because they won't fail and if they do the manufacturer will stand behind their product.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro

Extremely comfortable, great sound, and you can find them for under $200.

Closed Studio or Stereo?

I wouldn't get the DT 770 personally. I've read they have too much bass. If you need closed I hear the ATH-M50 is pretty good and worth trying. Don't know if they'll cover your whole ear though... you want around your whole ear right?

Also open or closed?

If you do go for the Beyer and aren't getting an amp then try to get the 32-ohm version. They'll be easier to get good volume out of than the other versions (250 and 600 ohm I believe).

If anyone wants to hear something really good without having to spend a lot of money, I highly recommend getting a pair of KSC-75. Only $15 at Amazon right now: http://www.amazon.com/Koss-KSC75-Por...6974301&sr=8-1

I don't notice that at all.

I listen to techno/electro/house so bass is good

i'm really rough/abusive with my stuff, and i misplace my things a lot, and dont treat my stuff with the utmost care. If u read my post i said that my warranty had already expired and the company was still willing to give me a 1time courtesy exchange. I didnt expect this at all...

i really do like monster products... the only thing i'd say is that the markup is too big and theyre usually pretty expensive. but if u buy headphones off their site, they give u monster bucks which seems like a really good deal

and fwiw i dont think just cuz u buy quality its gonna work 100% of the time. i've had bose headphones and monster headphones and they've both screwed up
02-24-2010 , 01:15 PM
I am after some noise cancelling headphones that are sub $200. Which are the best?

I'm tempted by the Sennheiser PXC 350 but they get contrasting reviews itt. I am no audiophile but like to think I can appreciate good sound. I'd want them so I don't hear the bass from music in the next room and ideally most people/engines on aeroplanes.

I didn't say it would. A quality product is more likely to last longer than a cheap product, and manufacturer is more likely to repair/replace broken parts for free. I can't offer an opinion on Monster's products but in general Bose is garbage or at least has been for me.
