Don't have to buy a soundcard but yeah that would improve quality. A good DAC is what you need... like a Pico DAC, that runs through the USB and provides good output. Many headphiles like it a lot.

picked the 280 pros up over the weekend, sound quality is excellent but they're a bit uncomfy over my big-ass ears. will give it a true test run grinding LAPC donkaments next week.

Hope they get more comfy for you.

My HD 650s gave me headaches when they were new, from the clamping force on my big head.
They loosened up quickly and have been very comfy for years now.

yeah im sure i'll get used to it after a short while... im used to the bose over-ear headphones and their extra-cushionyness

I want to get HD280's but I keep hearing reviews that they are light on bass. I am more of a basshead than analytical listener. But no so much of basshead that the bass would overpower the highs and mids.

If the 650's clamp your head too much, put books between them overnight and they will feel a lot better in the morning, or a lot of use will help obviously. I always remember them squashing my head to **** but now they are fine

280s are ****ing terrible. I am sorry to say this. I started out on headphones with those... and they sux soooo bad man. I would insta sell and pick up a pair of Audio Technica M50. About the same price.

best earphones for ~300 or less? my priorities are comfort/durability/sound quality

The Klipsch X10 are $50 above your price range but they are supposedly the most comfortable universal fit IEMs: http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Image-.../dp/B000WAHFBK

I wouldn't plan on moving around with them a lot or using them for exercising as they have some pretty bad microphonics (like if you flick the cable you will hear it).

Another choice is the Shure SE530 which sound really great. They may not be as comfortable though, it's subjective. I thought they were pretty good, but only listened for a few minutes on em.

Your call... personally I don't mind spending extra on things like this, since they will get untold hours of use. Say you get a 6.5 on the scale every hour you listen to the Beats by Dre, and if you spent $120 more you could've gotten a 9.

After a few hundred hours, there'd be a big difference!

Kangster, what kind of music do you listen to because if you are a basshead then etymotics or lower-end Shure's would not be for you. On the other hand, if you are a basshead then Sennheiser IE6, IE7 or IE8 would be perfect. If you listen to classical or jazz then I would reccomend Etymotics or SHures. Basically, a earphone that can produce the high-end with analytical clarity.

1 out of 5 ''Sold me Fake Bose earphone. Looked so original when I received it. But when I went to Bose authorized center to crosscheck it. They convinced me this is the Fake one. Worst is, I paid $100 for this, and the original one is $89. Fake Seller''
Date: 8/22/2009 ListingID: 47184409

for that seller... I wouldn't buy from there.

wait what?? so your saying buy.com scams people with fake stuff?

where would be a legit place to get them? i mean for a decent price...
02-21-2010 , 09:44 AM
also.. do i need to get an amp for these?

some people do for an ipod or such... if so what would u suggest? thanks
02-21-2010 , 09:50 AM
For home use this amp is a really great value for the price: http://www.acoustic-fun.com/catalog/...products_id=62

For portable use I'm not exactly sure what would be good. I'd check out headamp.com and ask justin if the Pico Slim would be any good for a D2000.

They'll be good unamped though, so maybe try that first.

Buy.com isn't selling them, they're just handling the transaction. It's really through someone else, and they have some shady reviews on their feedback. I'd beware and get something legit from an authorized Denon dealer, therefore your warranty is valid. www.headphone.com is good, they price match to any other authorized dealer's price and you can return them in 30 days no questions asked. I'd also call them and see if they can give you a better price on the D2000 over the phone.

That's the problem mate.

If something a lot cheaper than what it's meant to be it usually fake or second hand.

If you want a quality you have to pay for it and I'd pay the price they are asking for from a known store like Amazon or something - not sure what other official retailers are over in the states.
