brock doesnt have to technically outstrike mir - they don't even fight the same fight. brock just overwhelms people. there will not be 3 minutes where he is exchanging on the feet with anyone. like mir cant jab brock and keep him away, this isnt boxing.

line on mir/lesnar anyone?

i never thought frank was that big a douche and he's also the best color guy in mma. nog is no doubt a super good guy, but mir never seemed that bad to me. i kinda like him. pretty impressive performance.

so glad rampage won - i don't think vandy winning is that good for the ufc. page needs to get the title back. rashaad and forrest are really kinda lame as champions. rampage v lyoto has some cache to me not many other fights in the division excite me at all (after thiago v machida goes down). i guess it would also be kinda cool if rashaad just kept beating everyone as a dog.

kongo may be autistic. the chest pound, hand kiss, point to the sky thing like 900x in a row is just weird.

cb dolloway is total ****. someone real needs to cripple him asap.

goldberg continues to be amazing.

"SAME PUNCH HE DROPPED LIDELL WITH BABY!!!!"

"uhh no, he dropped lidell with a right hook"

"CORRECT YOU ARE JOE"

He was run over by a truck at age 11 and spent a year in the hospital.

The doctors thought he was going to die when they first brought him in.

He had some of his ribs and part of his liver removed.

That plays a HUGE part.

He also is famous for taking tons of damage and never being finished... until tonight.

Watch his fights against Bob Sapp, Mirko 'Cro Cop', and Fedor to see the amazing damage he takes and isn't knocked out by; you'll enjoy it if you like MMA. They are all on youtube.

WTF, you lose one fight and you're garbage?

I lost on Nog and Griffin, but I'm still happy with how this turned out. I love Wandy, but 'Page KOing him cold is such a nice addition to their story. Evans is awesome, though I don't think he'll hold on to the belt either. Just a fun card all around.

Rampage vs Rashad should be on, with Machida fighting the winner @ UFC 100 should he win.

if machida wins v thiago (which im not positive is a defo guarantee even tho ill be betting lyoto), and there is any justice at all in ufc, then it's pretty clear he should get the first shot at rashaad, no? or is it really that rigged that rampage is a shoe-in for a title shot since he's on a 1 fight win streak?
12-28-2008 , 04:55 AM
It might really be that rigged b/c Dana is all over Rampage's nuts and he seems to totally hate guys like Machida who don't mix it up like mindless brawlers, even though Lyoto is a genius in the ring.
12-28-2008 , 04:59 AM
Lyoto Machida is fighting in a little over a month.

Rampage v Rashad can take place in march (UFC 96)

If you wanna give it to Lyoto should he win then you gotta wait until UFC 97 at least.

The important thing is either way Lyoto gets his title shot eventually, the choice is weather it's earlier (UFC 97/98) or later (UFC 100)

And I think it would be good to get one extra LHW title bout squeezed in.

Unless there are medical suspensions.

wtf at people feeling Lesnar will crush Mir?

Mir handled him the first time around, and while I understand Lesnar has improved since then, he's only had 2 fights since the Mir loss, right? Mir looks much improved himself. If Mir's striking looks this good next time out, combined with his decided submission edge, I think he wins again.
12-28-2008 , 09:25 AM
Lesnar's standup has improved much more than Mir's, and Lesnar's stand up will continue to improve.

In a couple years Lesnar will the able to legitimately challenge Fedor in a way only Nogueira did in 2004.

uh...what?

Its known that wrestlers have weak leg protection, and thats exactly what Mir got him with. Lesnar knocked him down twice, and was pounding him. It was a simple mistake wrestlers do, Lesnar is past that, and he's a better stand up/jui jitsu guy then before.

Mir caught a very, very green Lesnar in a submission. Before that he was being beaten mercilessly. If Lesnar's ground game defense has improved I really doubt Frank will "handle him."

LOL Rampage at Kongo's postfight interview.

You may need to skip ahead to get to his, but all of the postfight interviews are worth watching (esp the guy who asks CB if he really tapped).

lmao HELL YEAH I TAPPED

What's up with Rampage hitting Silva twice while the ref was holding him and Silva was obviously out? I'm surprised no one has mentioned it.

Dude was full of adrenaline and Yves Lavgine did a poor job of getting him out of the way. He didn't Hari or Yvel the guy.

Yeah, it looked like the ref was just caught off guard at first. "Ffffffffffuuuuuu-" then he goes to try to stop rampage.

Hopefully Rampage gets the next title shot so we can hear some good black on black violence quotes. I also think he matches up very well against Rashad and would probably beat him.
12-28-2008 , 05:42 PM
Also, WTF was up with Nog last night? He looked incredibly slow. I really hope it was just an off night and not the years of punishment finally taking their toll, but I am afraid that may be the case.

Give Rampage a title shot. Deserve's got nothing to do with it, Rampage makes the world laugh.

I felt really bad seeing Mir own him like that last night, decided to rewatch his UFC 73 fight vs Herring, Nog looks 10 times faster in the first round, he's dancing around, always active, throwing jabs etc..

Btw after the UFC 92 weigh ins i thought Nog was kinda flabby, i checked his last weigh in vs Slyvia, and he weighed in at 9 pounds less, so i'm not sure if or how much that played a part in his weak performance last night.

Edit: I feel for Mir going through his accident and coming back to fight and all, and i might be a douche for this, but the same "i gave up then my wife had faith in me" story has been told ad naseum, its starting to get boring and annoying for me
