Maybe instead of offering Fedor a bunch of money, he should offer the opportunity to fight a bunch of 185 lbers.

Tito fight announced, or just that "he's back?"

"And btw, $30 mill total for 6 fights sounds like a perfectly reasonable estimate depending on the PPV cut and other bonuses."

This assumes Fedor goes 6-0 in the UFC though.

Haahah dear I don't know which .gif I laughed at more on this page. Also in a new Fedor interview he says he has 3 more fights with M1 (I thought he owned a "large %" and we will see after that, and he is happy with his contract right now, plus he doesn't consider himself to be a "great" fighter lol.

Yeah... I'm pretty bummed here. Fedor doesn't owe anyone anything, but I still think his legacy will be tarnished if he never competes in the UFC. There will always be that "what if?" at the end of his career and it is a shame that business interests are interfering.

They just said on inside MMA that basically M-1 IS Fedor and the pressure to have a co-promotion is not just coming from some handlers, it is indeed form Fedor himself. Fedor wants to have something in M-1 so that something of income potential that will survive his fighting career.

Going back to co-promotion, so you're saying co-promotion for M-1 means a 50/50 investment between the two parties?

Yeah, yeah. You sit down with the hard numbers. What's the fight purses? What's the venue? What's the advertising budget? Travel, food, throw it all in a pot, split it down the middle, and at the end of the event if the ink is black and there's a profit, split the profit, and if the ink is red, then just split the loss.
ive been generally sympathetic to fedor's camp but they are bat**** crazy if they brought that proposal to zuffa
08-01-2009 , 01:43 AM
Yea, 50/50 is just absolutely insane. Saying they'd take half the risk is just laughable. That's why I think there must be more to the story, and it just seems crazy for them to enter negotiations like that.

I think the fairest way to do it would be to take the profit from UFC 100 and split any surplus profit from that (so if UFC 100 sold 1.5 million PPVs and the one with Fedor/Lesnar sells 2.5 million, they'd split the profit from the extra 1 million, plus whatever extra profit it generates.) Then for the other 1 or 2 Fedor fights they want to co-promote they'd compare it to another UFC event to try to find the marginal revenue Fedor brings. I have no idea how they'd work in Fedor's salary itself though with it including a % of the PPVs. What else is involved in co-promoting? This fight is brought to you by UFC/M-1 blah blah?

Obviously it's never going to happen but I think that would be reasonable. Hopefully Fedor realizes after his next 3 fights with M-1 that he really needs to go to the UFC. Everyone will still want it as I highly doubt Lesnar loses to Carwin and whoever else he fights in the next year.

It's probably pointless to try to find out the specifics anymore, but I just can't see there not being more to it than this. Fedor of all people should know that M-1 is done without him. So their potential is pretty low with the UFC controlling more and more of the market by the day.

Dude wants a piece instead of a paycheck really. That kind of makes sense.
